UPDATE: Construction Continues on Renewable Natural Gas Project
We continue to make progress on the construction of the biogas purification facilities portion of our exciting Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) project. The building itself is now completely constructed, and equipment both inside and outside of the building is being installed. Items like the hydrogen sulfide tanks pictured in the right part of the image above and the pressure swing adsorption unit pictured in the image to the right will work together to convert biogas from the wastewater treatment process into renewable natural gas. That RNG will then be injected into NW Natural's pipeline system as a sustainable resource. To learn more about the project, click here.
Celebrating National Public Works Week
Next week (May 16-22) is National Public Works Week, a time to recognize the value and necessity of public works maintenance and projects for our communities. From street maintenance, to stormwater management, to wastewater services, and much more, public works services are essential to our health, safety, and quality of life.

At the MWMC, we're proud to provide one of these essential public works services, and that's cleaning wastewater on a regional basis for the Eugene-Springfield community. We work closely with the City of Eugene's Public Works Department and the City of Springfield's Development & Public Works Department to make that happen. Check out the video below for a behind-the-scenes look at a day in the life of a Springfield wastewater staff member and learn more about how the cities of Eugene and Springfield, along with Lane County, work together to safely return cleaned wastewater to the Willamette River.
Did You Know?
Did you know that the MWMC offers a waste disposal station free of charge? If you're taking your RV, camper, or boat out for a trip soon, make plans to dispose of waste from its holding tank properly at our wastewater treatment plant. The waste disposal station is located off River Avenue in North Eugene, approximately 1/8 mile east of our treatment plant's main entrance. This is also a great resource for those living in RVs, as allowed by the Overnight Parking Program or temporary city resolution. For more details and rules of use, click here.
