Remembering Mrs. Depp

On Sunday, April 10th, our beloved 5th grade teacher Mrs. Amy Depp, tragically passed away. While our staff struggled with their own sense of loss, they also stepped up to help our students on Monday. Teachers, counselors, principals, and other administrators provided grief counseling and support throughout the week for students and for each other.

Mrs. Depp was in her 27th year of teaching in this District at Holmes, WMS, East End, and finally at Denver Elementary. We are heartbroken for her students, colleagues, and family.

As administrators, teachers, counselors, and parents, we often struggle to find the right words to help children understand death, when we ourselves don’t have all of the answers. If you are looking for ways to talk with your child about a death or tragedy, we fing the resource Suggestions for Parents When Responding to a Death helpful.

Amy leaves behind her husband, Tim, and daughter, Abby. She also leaves behind students, friends, and co-workers who will always remember her bright smile, her laughter, and her devotion to teaching. Please keep her family, as well our students and staff, in your thoughts and prayers as we all continue to navigate this loss.

Appreciation Days Ahead!

5th Graders Get Ready to Step Up!

5th Grade Step UP.png

Change can be intimidating for kids and adults alike. To help ease the transition to the Middle School for our 5th graders, they will get to visit the building during the school day in May! Counselors and WMS student leaders will take our 5th graders on a tour of the building. They'll have a chance to see classrooms, meet teachers and staff, ask questions, and learn more about making that big jump to being a WMSer!

Our WMS Principals and counselors will also take some time in May to visit 5th graders at Denver, giving students a chance to ask questions and get to know them.
