Uvalde Community Resources
We want to extend our deepest sympathies to the Uvalde community and the families of the 21 victims of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School. Some of you have already made donations, given blood, sent support, or are working directly with the Uvalde community. We thank you for that.

As Texas continues to grieve, some of you have reached out to us for guidance on ways you can help. Greater Houston Community Foundation has curated a list of ways you can provide direct aid to those affected by Tuesday’s shooting. These resources will offer the support that will be needed in the coming days, months, and years to help the Uvalde community recover.
Over Ten Years of Center for Family Philanthropy!
In April, we gathered to celebrate over ten years of engaging the next generation of philanthropy in Houston and beyond! A special thanks to keynote speaker Dr. Michael Moody from the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and our leading four panelists Lacey Fluor Goossen, Mandy Kao, Ben Brown, and Kelly Hackett. Youth Leadership Team members Diya Vettical and Ashton Kao also shared how being involved with the Center for Family Philanthropy has helped them gain a more robust understanding of philanthropy and will help them make significant impacts on the community around them now and in the future!

Case Study: Lessons Learned for Effective Programs from Houston and the Field
The future of philanthropy is being shaped by the next generation of donors and Greater Houston Community Foundation is honored to be a part of that.

The pages of this case study, released the day of the luncheon on April 20, feature an intensive evaluation of the program including surveys of program alumni, dozens of in-depth interviews, a focus group with local youth, and a review of other data — everything you need to gain a deeper understanding of how we engage and support the next generation.
Our New Website is LIVE!
We are thrilled to announce that we have launched a new, updated website. Greater Houston Community Foundation strives to be your philanthropic partner, helping connect donors to various giving vehicles and services -- including donor advised funds, strategic consultingnext gen engagement, and foundation services — all aimed to help maximize charitable dollars for the causes that mean the most. We can also serve as your charitable back office, supporting donors throughout the grantmaking process and providing programming, advising, and educational opportunities to both donors and their families.
A special thanks to our website developers, Baal+Spots.
One of the most impactful, new features of our website is the ability for community members to open a fund with us online with just a few clicks. A simple, easy form so you can easily begin your philanthropic journey with Houston's preferred philanthropic partner, Greater Houston Community Foundation.
Professional Advisor Breakfast
Earlier this month, we hosted some of Houston’s premier professional advisors to talk about the importance of educating the next generation in philanthropy, so they are able to make a strategic impact in Houston and beyond. Greater Houston Community Foundation has deep experience helping Houston’s top advisors connect their clients with philanthropic services designed to ensure their funds go further and that their unique giving goals are met.
Disaster Relief Partner
Hurricane Season is just a week away. That said, we wanted to remind you that Greater Houston Community Foundation is committed to being a critical partner in disaster-relief response for our region. To streamline recovery and response efforts in the most efficient way for Houston, as of February 2021 during the peak of the pandemic, we established a formalized partnership with United Way of Greater Houston. We believe our collective, deep-rooted relationships with Houston’s philanthropic community will help us fundraise quickly in the aftermath of a disaster when a swift response is critical.
Youth Leadership Circle
In late April, the Family Giving Circle Youth Leadership Team conducted site visits with the finalists for the Spring 2022 grant. As part of the site visit, they volunteered to pack hygiene kits and ran a clothing drive to benefit survivors of Domestic Violence. Special thanks to the three finalists, Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA), Daya, and Houston Area Women’s Center.
Mission statement as created by the Youth Leadership Team:

The Spring 2022 Family Giving Circle mission is to support organizations spreading awareness, taking preemptive measures, as well as assisting and supporting survivors of Domestic Violence with services including, but not limited to, counseling/mental health support, financial assistance, and housing in the Greater Houston community.
