Prof. named winner of 2022 Kawana Award for Lifetime Achievement in Publications
The award honors Julie Washington's sustained history of exemplary publications; her journal contributions span more than 10 years and are meritorious in their educational, scientific, or clinical value.
LEAD Awards
The Latino Excellence and Achievement Awards Dinner (LEAD) honors key leaders, graduate students, staff and faculty who support and champion student success and research excellence in the Hispanic/Latinx community at UCI and in Orange County.
Ph.D. Candidate Melina Pinales was awarded the Graduate Student Excellence Award
Professor Gustavo Carlo won the Outstanding Faculty Mentorship Award.

"Teaching for Justice" event draws more than 300 educators
The two-day conference was geared towards K-12 educators and community members interested in integrating the principles of Asian American studies into their professional work.

The day was dedicated to exploring new insights and tools to help attendees in creating more inclusive and equitable school communities.

Nine UCI undergraduate students mentored the 20 advanced theater arts students from Tustin High School, helping the high-schoolers to both write and perform stories close to them regarding this year's theme of resilience.

The book club's goal was to create spaces for aspiring teachers from the UCI CalTeach program to confront their own implicit and explicit biases, and to better position them to fight extremism and create inclusive spaces for their own students.
Both projects were funded by grants from the UCI Office of Inclusive Excellence, and were invited to present at the "Building Community to Confront Extremism"
event hosted by OIE.
German delegation visits Digital Learning Lab
The group of 14 legislators and staffers were interested in gaining practical knowledge about educational innovations in the US, with a focus on digital learning.
