MOMS SUPPORTING MOMS
AN ACTION TO SUPPORT WMMHD
Moms Supporting Moms is an action developed in support of WMMHD
to highlight the importance of supporting pregnant women and new mothers
through an anonymous message board containing good wishes, advice, and tips.
Messages of lived experience can become a source of great support
for other women during the first stages of motherhood.
NATIONAL MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

Each year, TheBlueDotProject leads a social media campaign during
Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, posting daily memes and messages for social media followers to like, share, and comment on. This year's campaign focuses on the intersection of maternal mental health and substance use, partnering with #ToughAsAMother campaign, to engage in #MakingOverMotherhood.
Moms are encouraged to share daily posts, engage in mindful moments, and learn healthy
ways to deal with stress.
Promotional partners will receive the #MMHWeek2022 social media toolkit and agree to like / share / retweet during MMH week.

CSUMSUMMIT ON NOVEL MMH PREVENTION PROGRAMS
MAY 23, 2022
MMHLA is partnering with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to host a special event featuring three evidence-based prevention programs that have proven effective in preventing and mitigating anxiety and depression for new mothers.

The first hour will feature an overview of MMH conditions and the three programs;
and the second hour will be an optional "deep dive" into a program of choice.

Mothers and Babies is designed for pregnant people and new parents, providing a toolkit of coping skills to help manage
mood and stress while parenting a newborn

PREPP is a dyadically-oriented protocol using targeted psychotherapy techniques and infant behavior interventions delivered during outine perinatal medical visits.

Reach Out, Stay Strong, Essentials (ROSES) for mothers of newborns is an educational class during pregnancy in settings that provide health care to low-income pregnant women.

PARENTS ON THE PIER: ADVANCING JUSTICE FOR ALL
JUNE 5, 2022
March for Moms hosts its annual signature event on Sunday, June 5 on The Wharf in Washington, DC. This year's event Parents on the Pier highlights economic, reproductive, healthcare, and racial justice with speakers reflecting these categories (inclusive of healthcare providers, consumers, industry, and community based leaders). The event is family-friendly with entertainment and children's activities.

Advocacy efforts continue in June as MMHLA partners with the March of Dimes,
Shades of Blue Project, and 2020 Mom for a Virtual Congressional Briefing.
We will advocate for additional funding for existing MMH programs,
and passage of three important bills that together will address MMH

GPS (Group Peer Support) Moms of Infants Support Group
GPS is seeking mothers of infants to participate in a research study to understand the impact of support groups on the health of mothers and babies. New moms attend a support group, complete a survey, and receive a $40 honorarium. Learn more HERE.

Researchers at USC are seeking first-time fathers to join a study examining the perinatal stress and associated mental health of transitioning to parenthood. Learn more HERE.
