Florida Courts by the Numbers
The Economic Club of Florida welcomes members of the public to register to attend our monthly luncheon. There is a luncheon fee of $40, payable at the door with a check or major credit card. After your visit, we hope that you choose to become a member of the Club!
Hon. Charles Canady, Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court, will join us May 17th to speak to the Club on Florida’s court system during the pandemic. We’ll learn the magnitude of cases our court system faces compared to the allocated budget and number of judges per capita. Florida is the 3rd largest state but is very lean per capita. You’ll gain an understanding of the court system and how certain areas were impacted by the pandemic and where we are today.
Justice Canady graduated from Yale Law School in 1979. After private practice in Lakeland, Florida, he served three terms in the Florida House of Representative and four terms in the United States House of Representatives. He was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court by Governor Charlie Crist and took office on September 8, 2008. He is Florida's 54th Chief Justice and was reelected in 2018 and 2020.
As a capacity crowd is expected, please register early.
