Walking Tour: Faith Ringgold: American People at the New Museum (11262) is a great opportunity to view this comprehensive exhibit on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, before it closes in a few weeks. Learn about Ringgold's impressive body of work from SAS instructor Riva Blumenfeld. Tour size is limited and will fill on a first-come/first-served basis.
Ze'ev Aviezer's four-session course, Jewish Canon (11283), a discussion of excerpts and rabbinic interpretations of the texts at the heart of the Jewish religion, will now meet over Zoom instead of in-person. Class begins Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
Walking Tour: Green-Wood Cemetery (11086) has been rescheduled for Monday, May 23, 2022. This creepy and cool excursion focuses on the art and architecture of this historic landmark. Founded as one of the country's first rural cemeteries in 1838 (a full century before SAS), Brooklyn's Green-Wood serves as a cultural institution, an outdoor museum, and the final resting place for over 570,000 permanent residents. Highlights include the Gothic Archway, the Historic Chapel, and sculptures such as "The Greeter" and "Cabeza de Mujer."
