Helping Our Community Plan for the Future at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History

Get It Done SB! and Mi Regalo are celebrating a successful Advance Care Planning workshop this past March at Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History!

On February 14th, over 45 staff and patrons of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History tuned in on Zoom to learn more about Advance Care Planning from Hospice of Santa Barbara’s Adriana Marroquin and Charles Caldwell.

After an engaging first session, 22 Advance Directive documents were completed at a notary session on March 2nd, with the help of our ACP volunteer Jayne Brechwald and ACP champion Andrea McFarling.

Our ACP team is incredibly excited to host even more Advance Care Planning workshops this year and help our community ensure their healthcare wishes are made known and respected!

Thank you, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, for your amazing contributions to Advance Care Planning efforts in Santa Barbara!

Planeando para mi futuro cuidado médico hoy

de Aly Lynch

The idea of planning for care through the end of life seems distant and hard to grasp for a lot of us — especially those considered young or without current health conditions. When are we at the end? When we’re diagnosed with cancer? When we’re in the wrong place at the wrong time? “Advance care planning” is similarly vague. In advance of what? Plus, a lot of us assume a doctor or medical team is responsible for planning our care.
