May Missions Month
During the month of May, the Church of God in Hawaii will focus on working together for the Golden Triangle World Missions project. This project gives us the opportunity to sow outside of our own local churches and minister to the least, the last, and the lost around the world. This acts on key biblical principles of giving.
1 Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days. 6 In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.
Ecclesiastes 11:1, 6 (ESV)
38 “give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
Luke 6:38 (ESV)
17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.
Proverbs 19:17 (ESV)
I have seen it happen time and again. When a church, family, or individual begins to give toward the heart of God (World Missions), He blesses that church, family, or individual in extraordinary ways. This is not some get rich scheme or false prosperity gospel. This is the simple matter of obedience to the Lord which brings his promised blessing on those who give.
The Golden Triangle is a project covering much of Southeast Asia. It’s areas of focus include combating drug addiction, offering freedom to those addicted, and fighting the growing epidemic of human trafficking, especially of children. We have boots on the ground and orphanages already up and operating to rescue, house, clothe, feed, educate, and give former child victims of trafficking the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Another important principle at work in May Missions Month is that we can do so much more together than any one of us can do on our own. Let’s partner together with our gifts to World Missions during May Missions Month. Each Hawaii Church of God congregation is asked to designate at least one Sunday morning offering during the month of May to this project. Offerings can be mailed to the Hawaii State Office or brought to opening night of Camp Meeting where the offering has been designated as our World Missions Offering. Thank you for your partnership. Hawaii truly CARES.

The Month of May is Mission Giving
2 Corinthians 9:7-8 (ESV)
7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
The Bible talks about money & possessions. Did you know:
*There are over 2,100 Biblical references to possessions- second only to the Bible’s references to love?
* 1/6 of the New Testament is how we should live according to what Jesus taught?
*Almost 1/2 of Jesus’ parables have to do with our possessions?
*Nearly 25% of Jesus’ words in the New Testament deal with biblical stewardship?
*More is said about money than about heaven and hell combined?
A God-centered view of giving is easy when we understand these three points:
1. God owns everything.
2. God calls us to be managers of his blessings.
3. God loves a cheerful giver.
You can’t take it with you. Has anybody ever seen a hearse pulling a U-haul? But you can send it on ahead. You send it on ahead by investing it in people who are going there. Every time you give, it is an eternal investment. Jesus said, "Store up treasures in heaven." How do you do that?
1 Timothy tells us, "Give happily to those in need and always be ready to share whatever God has given you. By doing this you will be storing up real treasure for yourselves in heaven. It is the only safe investment for eternity." It’s a protected investment and it gets great rates. God says every time I give, it’s an investment into the future.
Let’s challenge ourselves to give beyond our tithes, let’s bring our offerings to see people lives changed and mission projects completed.
Blessings,
Pastor Brian

Addicted To Applause

COVID-19 did not shut down the church. It opened our hearts and minds to think of the church beyond our walls. In a mobile world, we have taken the practices we learned during pandemic and have applied them to our present culture. Statistically speaking, one third of all people in Hawaii could not attend church on any given Sunday AM because they are required to work. Digital ministry benefits those who are not able to make attendance in the building, but still consider themselves a part of the church.

Did You Know?
Hawaii has the highest concentration of Latter-day Saints of U.S. states that do not border Utah. (Membership statistics of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)
The LDS Church is the 2nd largest denomination in Hawaii, behind the Roman Catholic Church. (From: "The Association of Religion Data Archives | State Membership Report". Thearda.com. Retrieved April 19, 2021.)

The Allow-the-LDS-Leaders-to Say-It-Themselves Approach
By Eric Johnson Summary Sometimes one of the most powerful apologetic approaches a Christian can offer is to allow LDS leaders to speak for themselves. While a layperson Latter-day Saint may say that their view "is just their opinion," this...

(If You Know You Know)
IYKYK is short hand or text speak that stands for the phrase "If you know you know". Essentially, the phrase boils down to an inside joke or choice piece of information that only select individuals might be privy to. Those who are serious about winning the lost for Jesus are the insiders on this bit of news.
It is not the pastor's job to win souls. It is our job as Christ-followers to be the example and to preach the Gospel with our lives. It is the pastor's role in the body to equip the saints for the work of God. #iykyk

Ephesians 4:11-13 – And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Do You Have What It Takes to Make a Difference for Hawaii Youth Camp?
|
|
Staff Registration Is Now Open
|
The best example of servant leadership came from Christ as he was about to be betrayed. He did not consider his own self, as he wanted to lead by example. You can be the embodiment of this teaching by giving of your time, resources and talent to make a life-long difference for students this summer.
CAMPER SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNTIES:
Youth Camp is one of the most successful ministries in the Church of God. Many ministers can trace their calling into ministry, and even their salvation to youth camp. The significance of this ministry should not be missed because a student cannot afford the camp fees and/or the airline ticket to get to camp.
If you would like to contribute to help a student get to camp, feel free to email YD Director, Brian Whitelock and let him know your intentions. Even if you cannot cover the full amount, every bit helps.
Mahalo nui loa.
