Executive Director, Long Island High Technology Incubator
The Long Island High Technology Incubator (LIHTI) is a regional startup incubator and accelerator. The Executive Director (ED) leads the organization. The position reports to the Board of Directors (BOD). The organization is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit legal entity and has a strong affiliation with Stony Brook University (SBU). Since opening in 1992, LIHTI has been associated with many biotechnology and other technology-based businesses. Most have graduated successfully from the LIHTI program, creating jobs for hundreds employees.

Launch1000 is a comprehensive, self-paced, online, entrepreneurship program offered in partnership with Westchester County. During the 6-10 month program, participants are guided through an action-based accelerator where they walk their idea through a step-by-step framework to test, validate, de-risk, and/or launch their venture faster.
Launch1000 is open to any Westchester County resident, is industry-agnostic, and is offered in both English and Spanish.

Opening: Queens Tech Incubator
|
|
The Queens Chamber of Commerce and the Queens Tech Council anare seeking applications from tech companies who are interested in office space as part of the Queen Tech Incubator. The Queens Tech Incubator will launch with space at the Greater Nexus in Jamaica, a recently opened 10,000 sq. ft. co-working space managed by the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation. There are plans to open incubators in the Rockaways, Forest Hills, Long Island City and Flushing in the coming months.
Applications to the Queens Tech Incubator will be reviewed and selected by members of the Queens Tech Council. Companies chosen will have access to complimentary office space, mentorship opportunities from existing Tech Council members as well as resources provided by the Small Business Resource Network (SBRN).

Mayor Adams, NYCEDC Announce New Center for Sustainability-Focused Biotech to Open at the Brooklyn Navy Yard

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), and the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation today announced that the city will open a first-in-the-nation $20 million center for sustainability-focused biotech in Building 303 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in partnership with Newlab, the Partnership Fund for New York City, and Empire State Development. The 50,000-square-foot innovation space is expected to open in 2025 and advances Mayor Adams' efforts to make New York City the global center of sustainable technology by leveraging the city's growing life sciences and biotechnology industries

- Carbon Capture, such as atmospheric (e.g. DAC) or point source (esp. from hard-to-decarbonize sectors).
- Carbon Conversion to Added-Value Products, such as CO2 mineralization into building materials, CO2 conversion to fuels (e.g. SAF), and chemicals (and related feedstocks like syngas).
- Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), such as ocean alkalinity enhancement, enhanced rock weathering, etc.
- Enabling Technologies, such as Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems for carbontech (software and/or hardware), financing and insurance, carbon markets.
The program is appropriate for all startups globally with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 4 to 7, actively investigating product-market fit and seeking partnerships.

The Fellowship Expands from Eight to One Hundred Thanks to a $1.5 Million Investment through Mayor Eric Adams’ Blueprint for Economic Recovery.
NYCEDC selected the following operator partners to host five unique Founder Fellowship cohorts in 2023. Each program operator is providing unique value and offerings to the startups participating in their respective cohorts.
