PRSA Western District Conference - Award Winners

Congratulations to Tucson Water for winning the PRSA Western District Best in the West award on April 27 at the PRSA Western District Conference in Tucson. Tucson Water was a contender for Best in the West after earning Best in Show at our Southern Arizona IMPACT Awards last fall.

All PRSA Western District chapters submit their best in show winners to the Western District awards each year. The awards are vetted by voting members of the Western District Board. The district is comprised of 11 PRSA chapters in five Western states, including Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Southern California, and Hawaii. The District has more than 2,000 members. Tucson Water won for its entry, Water Matters Newsletter. This is the first Best in the West award for the Southern Arizona chapter.

Congratulations to long-time chapter member Jan Howard, APR,  for receiving the PRSA Western District Platinum Service Award at the conference. The award is given to someone in the district who has contributed to the success of the public relations industry and has displayed a strong sense of leadership. Jan has demonstrated a commitment to the field of public relations, outstanding leadership in her professional and community endeavors, and ongoing support of PRSA throughout her career.

Jan, who was recently honored with a Career Impact Award in our recent IMPACT Awards ceremony, has more than three decades of experience in public relations and integrated marketing, working with countless national and local businesses and individuals. A PRSA member since 1997, she is nationally accredited in public relations and has held a variety of leadership roles at the local, district and national level, including Southern Arizona chapter president, Western District treasurer and PRSA national delegate, just to name a few. In 2009, she was named PRSA Southern Arizona Public Relations Professional of the Year.

Membership Corner

Here are what some of the PRSA Southern Arizona Chapter members have to say about the value they experience in being a member:

“I have been a member of other professional organizations and none compare to PRSA. The member discounts on PRSA webinars (which usually end up being free), the Southern Arizona Chapter’s monthly programs, and access to current trends affecting public relations are just three of the many reasons I love being a member!”
