May Library News

Hello, May!.

Spring has sprung, and we're looking forward to warmer days ahead. Our weekly Baby and Toddler Storytime sessions are moving outside this month. Bring a blanket or towel and meet us outside the library!


And we're looking forward to welcoming Point Road kindergartners, who will be visiting us this month to receive their library cards. What a great tradition!

Adult Special Events

Korean War Presentation, by Paul Zigo

Wednesday, May 10

The Korean Conflict has been called America's "forgotten war," but it had a profound impact upon East-West relations during the Cold War.


Join us for a presentation by Paul Zigo, a history professor, author and military historian, to learn more about the war and the armistice that ended it.

SPCA Collection

Drop off items at the library.

We will accept clean, gently used linens such as towels, sheets, fleece blankets, and other types of single layer blankets (no pillows, filled comforters or stuffed animals.)


We will also accept all types of unopened pet food for dogs, cats, small animals and even wildlife.

Tuesday Storytime

There's no need to register ahead of time for our weekly storytime. Just pick a session to attend, and join Ms. Danya for stories and fun!

Join us every Tuesday for Storytime.


Our Baby and Toddler Storytime sessions are heading outside, starting May 2! Bring a blanket or towel to sit on. Storytime will move indoors for inclement weather.


Please note: there will be no storytime on May 16 due to school visits (rain date is May 23). Please check social media to see if the weather impacts this schedule.

Yoga Storytime

Tuesday,

Ages 2 and up


Join Molly Fox, MS Ed, and Certified yoga teacher, in an interactive, mind/body storytime!


Participants interpret the story through yoga poses, stretches and deep breathing.

Beach in a Box

3:30-4:15 pm

Ages 4 and up with parent/caregiver


Want to see and touch lots of marine artifacts including shells and seahorses? Join WILD Jersey's Debbie Hadley to learn about unique animals that live at the Jersey Shore.


Registration is required, in person or by phone, starting May 9.

Storywalk®

"The Hidden Rainbow" is at Sickles Playground

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson. 

Our latest StoryWalk® book, "The Hidden Rainbow" by Christie Matheson is on display at Sickles Park playground!


This beautiful book teaches colors and counting, and describes how bees help flowers grow.


Little Silver Library has collaborated with Little Silver Recreation to bring another StoryWalk® book to our community.

This is just a reminder that some of our special events require registration due to limited space or materials.


If a program says "Registration is Required," please call the library at 732-747-9649 to reserve a space. Or, you may register in person.


If you are placed on a waitlist, we will notify you if a spot becomes available.

Currently On Display: Ukrainian Crafts

Little Silver residents Luba and Walter Kasian have shared a collection of hand-decorated Easter eggs, woodcarvings, ceramics and embroidery from their native Ukraine.


Many of the exquisitely embroidered items were hand-crafted by family members.


The Kasians' beautiful and informative display will be in the library through the month of May.

Non-Fiction/History Book Club

Monday, May 15 at 6:30 pm


The Non-Fiction/History Book Club will be discussing "The Years of Lyndon Johnson: The Passage of Power" by Robert A. Caro.


The group will meet on Monday, May 15 to discuss the second half of the book. 


You may contact the library at 732-747-9649 to borrow a copy of the book. Registration not required.

Museum Passes
