“Do This in Memory of Me” – 82nd Annual Catholic Appeal
The 2023 Catholic Appeal is underway and runs through June 30. Now in its 82nd year, the Appeal sustains the numerous agencies, programs, and ministries of the Diocese of Fall River, providing food, shelter, emergency assistance, spiritual comfort, and educational opportunities. Our theme for 2023 is inspired by the National Eucharistic Revival and calls us to serve our brothers and sisters in their moments of greatest need: to be the hands and feet of Jesus, loving one another as He has loved us. Every year, support from parishioners and friends helps children, adults, and the elderly by bringing the corporal and spiritual works of mercy to life. Please consider supporting our annual Catholic Appeal!

Blessing of the Fields at Bishop Stang High School’s Hugh Carney Stadium
|
A group of donors, students, faculty, and staff gathered on Thursday, May 11, to celebrate the completion of the Game On Field Campaign for Bishop Stang High School (BSHS). Bishop da Cunha was present to give a special blessing of the field complex. The Campaign, for which CFSEMA provided fundraising counsel, secured $2.1 million to renovate Hugh Carney Stadium. The stadium and fields support Spartan Village’s baseball, football, soccer, softball, field hockey, and lacrosse teams, as well as school events. Lead donors on the project included Campaign Steering Committee Chair Jim Black ‘69, BSHS, along with alumnus Christian Loranger ‘90 and his wife Aileen, BayCoast Bank Charitable Foundation, the Carney Family Charitable Foundation, and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Ferreira. In total, more than 250 individuals, corporations, and foundations made gifts to the Campaign. Thanks to all who joined the team in making this important project possible for Bishop Stang High School’s students and the wider community!

How to make a stock gift to the Diocese of Fall River,
your parish, school, or the Catholic Appeal!
|
|
Stock donations can be more beneficial than donating cash, due to the tax advantages that may be associated with transferring appreciated stocks to a charitable organization such as the Catholic Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts. Your stock donation can benefit your parish, school, the Catholic Appeal or another ministry in the Diocese of Fall River.

Catholic Charities Continuing Its
Commitment to Serve the Homeless
April marked two important milestones in Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fall River’s (CCFR) ongoing commitment to serving those individuals and families who are unhoused. On Sunday, April 30 Bishop da Cunha (pictured) blessed each room of the Samaritan House’s new location at the former Holy Rosary Rectory in Taunton with Holy Water. Samaritan House is an emergency homeless shelter for 18 men and women. The new location is an important component of Samaritan House’s continuing work to help its guests secure permanent housing, employment and long-term sustainability. Read More
