CancerCare's Stories of Help and Hope

Throughout the year, CancerCare presents the stories of people who have cancer, their caregivers and more.


Our latest story comes from Veronica, who didn't know where to turn after being diagnosed with breast cancer and found the emotional support she needed with CancerCare.


She now shares her story with many others in our Stories of Help and Hope.

A Night to Remember for CancerCare


In April, CancerCare hosted its annual Spring Gala and raised over $1,000,000 for the third year in a row.


This year’s gala was a particularly special one. It not only celebrated CancerCare’s 80th anniversary but also paid tribute to the unsung heroes of cancer care – the organization’s oncology social workers.

CancerCare's New Jersey Gala Is Upon Us


CancerCare's 36th Annual Festival of Hope Gala is on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Park Savoy, in Florham Park, New Jersey.

 

CancerCare will honor individuals and organizations that have made substantial contributions to improving the lives of people affected by cancer. Among these is Sanofi, which will be honored with the 2024 Corporate Achievement Award. Read more about the event and our partnerships.

CancerCare in TIME Magazine

 

Last month, CancerCare was featured in an article by TIME magazine, "How to Talk to Kids When a Parent Has Cancer." Shannon Coon, CancerCare's Children's Program Coordinator, shared her expertise about how to communicate with children when a parent has been diagnosed with cancer. It is important, she says, to approach them in ways they can process and understand, including preparing for the talk, the need to explain what cancer is and deciding when and where might be the best time to have the discussion.
