ACT NOW

Earlier this week, we posted on our social media new information about a recent (non-related) amendment to bill SB 340 that could potentially reduce New Hampshire's special education rights to the bare minimum allowed by federal law. Despite overwhelming opposition, the amendment will be moving forward to the full House.

This amendment, if passed on the floor, would limit special education rules to the state or federal minimum requirements, potentially eliminating important protections from our NH Standards for the Education for Children with Disabilities to include the process in which evaluations for special education services are determined. We need your help to protect these rights. Please reach out to your representative and let them know the importance of preserving special education protections. Find your legislator here: https://gencourt.state.nh.us/house/members/

HB 1593-FN  A non-germane (non-related) amendment related to hospital funding was attached to this bill, and a public hearing was held this past Wednesday to discuss it. The Senate Finance Committee will hold an executive session on Tuesday, May 21st.
