Dear traveler,
As our busy spring season is slowly ending and most of our groups have safely returned from their enriching travel experiences, we are so excited to begin our “slower” season of the summer. That’s when we can focus on pressing issues that require our attention and improving touches without being overwhelmed with phone calls and emails from travelers on the road. This time helps us prepare for our next busy fall season, which starts in September. Our summer slate features two tours leaving for Poland & the Baltics and our first Mongolia tour.
As we approach Memorial Day, it is essential that we take this time to remember the reason we celebrate. Let us be reminded of all the heroes that came before us and their sacrifices in dedication to a life that allows us to have the freedoms, we most value today. To all those that serve, those that have served in the past, and those that are no longer with us due to their service: we salute you and thank you.

In the wake of our recent triumphant journey through Morocco & the Spanish enclaves (or exclaves), the forbidden territories of Ceuta and Melilla have captivated the hearts of our travelers. Nestled along the coastal expanse of Morocco, these enclaves, although seemingly part of the Moroccan tapestry, are inscribed with the legacy of Spanish ownership. A tumultuous history has shrouded Ceuta and Melilla, rendering them as pivotal points in the diplomatic tug-of-war between Morocco and Spain. Madrid staunchly affirms their status as integral extensions of Spain, akin to its mainland semi-autonomous regions, while Morocco's persistent covetous gaze manifests in sporadic diplomatic tensions. Shielded by formidable fortifications, the borders of Ceuta and Melilla have found themselves at the throes of a pressing predicament - the burgeoning influx of African migrants in pursuit of a promising European horizon. Despite the modern-day predicaments, both cities trace their origin back to the ancient Phoenicians, the illustrious seafarers, and traders of the Mediterranean epoch. Having weathered the storms of conflict and conquests across the annals of history, the Spanish dominion over these terrains was ultimately solidified in 1580, barring a brief interlude from 1694 to 1720 when the Moors temporarily gained dominion.
Even if you have visited Morocco in the past, this tour will offer you another chance to experience the vibrant culture of Morocco. Wander through its bustling souks, where local artisans showcase their crafts. In the enchanting city of Fes, find yourself transported to a walled enclave steeped in a medieval dream, where every corner tells a story of centuries past. Marvel at the stunning desert oasis, where golden dunes extend as far as the eye can see, creating a landscape that feels like a mirage brought to life. Morocco promises a glimpse into a rich Islamic culture within a safe and tourist-friendly environment, inviting you to immerse yourself in its unique charm. The dates are Feb 23 - Mar 05, 2025.
For a truly comprehensive experience, consider pairing this tour with the Southern Morocco and Western Sahara tour led by our expert guide, Mohamed Halouani, from Feb 09 - Feb 23, 2025. Don't miss the opportunity to join this adventure before demand peaks.

If you are seeking a unique travel experience, we are delighted to inform you that our upcoming tour to Angola (Oct 07 - Oct 18, 2024) still has 2 spots available. I am extremely excited to lead this tour myself. Angola, the seventh largest country in Africa, is a land brimming with cultural diversity and natural wonders. You will have the extraordinary opportunity to encounter some of the world's few remaining traditional and remote tribes. These communities uphold their ancient cultural practices, attire, customs, and languages, offering a glimpse into a way of life that remains untouched by modernity. Throughout the country, a blend of cultures is apparent, reflecting the legacy of colonial times. Established in the 16th century, Portuguese influences have significantly shaped urban life in Angola. However, African heritage shines through in the local music, dance, and linguistic nuances of Portuguese spoken in the region.
Angola's landscape is a masterpiece of natural marvels, from the monumental Pedras Negreas (Black Rocks) plateau to the breathtaking pink and orange sand dunes of the Namib Desert, believed to be the oldest on Earth. Embrace the opportunity for rustic camping nights, providing an authentic and immersive experience amidst the rich traditional tribal cultures that define Angola.
For those looking to extend their exploration, consider adding a Cabinda extension (Oct 05 - Oct 07) and Sao Tome extension (Oct 18 - Oct 25) to your itinerary. These additional excursions will allow you to fully embrace the diverse offerings of the region and create unforgettable memories. For those who may not wish to do Angola but are intrigued by the tropical islands of Sao Tome, that tour can be done as a stand-alone tour OR you can add something else with it to complement that one week with a neighboring destination. Don't miss this chance to embark on a journey that will both inspire and enlighten.
