At Valley Outreach, dignity is a critical part of the experience. Heather Hammond, a Valley Outreach board member, generously shared her personal experiences with accessing food and clothing programs as a child. Her story highlights the importance of creating a welcoming, positive experience for community members.

Be Curious: Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

We invite you to be curious and go a little deeper into the heritage months we honor in the United States.

This May we celebrate Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. Like many other commemorative months in the United States, it started as a week in 1978 with the observance expanded to a full month in the early 1990s.

Be Curious: May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Every May, Americans come together to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to highlighting the importance of mental wellness and the resources available to support it. This vital observance began in May 1949, founded by Mental Health America, to raise awareness about mental health issues, reduce the stigma surrounding them, and promote the message that mental health is essential to overall well-being.
