Recruitment is a wrap for 2025-26 cohort!

Info Night at the Skagit County Fairgrounds

The application window for the 2025-26 cohort of Leadership Skagit closed April 30, and it looks to be shaping up to be the next Best Class Ever!

You may notice that recruitment seems to be happening earlier than in years past. It’s true! To better accommodate the work it takes behind the scenes onboarding a new class, we’ve started the whole process earlier. While the next cohort will be solidified soon, potential participants can always reach out to be notified when we begin recruitment for the next class, starting early next year.

Thank you to the Skagit County Fairgrounds and Frances Negranza, LS ’24, for hosting the Leadership Skagit Information Night last month. Thank you as well to all the alumni who took time out of their day to participate in one of our coffee chat sessions: Emily Johnson, LS '24, April Moore, LS '23, Jesica Kiser, LS '22, Megan Pearce, LS '22, Peter Cavan, LS '24, Debra Lancaster, LS '04, Lauren Christian, LS '23, Jennifer Eddleman, LS '24, and Jorge Estefan, LS '20. You help us to ensure we have an outstanding new class of engaged leaders!

Looking for a few good volunteers

April Challenge Day, curriculum committee and guest panelists

Leadership Skagit is currently looking for a few more volunteers for the 2025-26 cohort. We have need for Challenge Day Committee members, Curriculum Committee members and Advisors. Contact Laura Cailloux or Gina Eakin if you are interested in serving in one of these roles.

Class of 2025 project presentations are June 3

The Class of 2025 wraps up their Leadership Skagit journey on June 3.

Project presentations take place from 9-11 a.m. at the Northwest Career & Technical Academy in Mount Vernon. The event is free to attend and open to all. Please join us to recognize the hard work of the participants.

The evening graduation celebration is limited to participants and their guests, current volunteers and guest speakers.

Leadership Skagit team presents to local civic club

EDASC Community Relations Associate Gina Eakin and Communications Manager Hilary Parker shared information about the Leadership Skagit program to the Mount Vernon Noon Rotary in April. Thank you to Rachelle Eason, LS '22, the current Rotary president, for inviting us.

The Leadership Skagit team is always excited for an opportunity to share our presentation with other groups in and around Skagit County. If you are a member of a civic organization and would like a presentation about Leadership Skagit, please reach out to us. We would be happy to join you!

May Challenge Day: Arts & Culture Day

Improv generated a lot of smiles during last week's Challenge Day at the Art Center at Buxton's.

Arts & Culture Day took place May 2 at The Arts Center at Buxton's in Anacortes. We would like to thank Buxton's for their partial donation of the space rental fee. Anacortes is one of the state's newest Creative Districts, making it an ideal place to highlight the arts.

We also want to express our gratitude to the dedicated volunteers on the Challenge Day Committee: Anne Basye (LS '18, Chair), Philip Prud'homme (LS '11), Svenja Marshall (LS '24), and Jenna Blade (LS '23, Curriculum Committee Liaison). We greatly value their assistance in planning and executing the event, which includes identifying and inviting the guest speakers.
