Snake Alley Criterium Returns to Downtown Burlington for 2025
One of the Midwest’s most grueling and iconic cycling races is headed back to the heart of Burlington. The Snake Alley Criterium will return to Downtown Burlington in 2025, with cyclists once again taking on the legendary brick climb of Snake Alley.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025, the course will follow a challenging 14-block loop, measuring 0.9 miles per lap, all on city streets within Burlington’s downtown commercial district. The highlight—and most infamous segment—remains Snake Alley itself: a 276-foot-long brick street with five switchbacks and a 12.5% grade over just one block. Riders will need serious endurance—and smart gearing—to conquer this leg of the course.
Billed as one of the toughest criteriums in the region, the Snake Alley race has earned a reputation for its punishing terrain and electric atmosphere. The weekend will kick off with the Friday Night Fever Twilight Criterium on Friday, May 23, 2025, also taking place in Downtown Burlington.
Spectators are encouraged to come Downtown and experience the thrill, energy, and sheer grit of racers taking on the crookedest street in the world. As always: Come Race the Snake!
