The Leona Group lit up with innovation and imagination on April 11, 2025 during its second STEAM Extravaganza. Seventeen schools came together to present 51 projects from students in kindergarten through high school, highlighting how science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics are thriving in our classrooms. From flying drones and coding challenges to saving the environment and performing on stage, the event was packed with hands-on exhibits that sparked excitement and curiosity. Visitors explored detailed recreations, clever experiments and watched students light up while explaining the “how” and “why” behind their work.
What made the day even more powerful was the involvement of industry professionals who connected classroom learning with real-world applications. Students got to interact with representatives from Michigan State Police, Wayne County Community College District / Michigan Institute for Public Safety Education (WCCCD/MIPSE), LIFT, Southwest STEM Labs, Math Fit and College of Creative Studies (Detroit), who gave a glimpse into how STEAM skills are shaping modern careers. These community partners added to the experience with interactive displays and engaging demonstrations that had students lining up to explore.
This collaborative celebration showed exactly what’s possible when schools and community partners work together to inspire future leaders and innovators. Much appreciation to everyone for special efforts in all details of the STEAM Extravaganza. A huge thank you to our student presenters who made the day an inspirational success!
