New Chronic Homeless Training Opportunities

The HMIS Team is currently working with Close to Home to better understand barriers to the accurate collection of chronic homelessness data. Agency points-of-contact will have received surveys to disperse to their teams. The responses from these surveys will allow us to make the proper adjustments to ensure that chronic homelessness data is accurately collected.

Survey responses are due by May 9th.

If you wish to take part in this survey, please click on the option that most accurately fits your role:

Emergency Shelter & Street Outreach survey (for all shelter and street outreach case managers)

Housing Providers survey (for rapid rehousing, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing case managers)

We will be holding trainings on chronic homelessness at the following times:

Wednesday 5/14 at 11 AM

&

Thursday 5/15 at 2 PM

Please note that the same information will be shared on both days, so you will only need to attend one session.

Reminder: Changes to HMIS Training Environment

Our team has made major changes to the way users can practice entering data in HMIS. The original Training Environment will no longer be available, and all accounts at the existing links have been deactivated.

Instead, we have created a new training center within the existing Live Environment that allows users to safely practice HMIS entry without having to use a separate link. This new training area will still have ready-made test clients and test enrollments to use, but you will still be able to create new profiles to test as needed.

New Data Request Procedures

In our most recent CoC Board Meeting, our community approved a new-and-improved process for HMIS Data Requests. The changes made to this procedure were designed to help us better prioritize community requests, and to help us more efficiently collect the necessary information up front. Changes will apply to both agency data and community data requests.

Links to the Data Request Forms will be updated when these changes go live, so no additional action from users will be needed.

The HMIS Team will be hosting an optional Office Hour to discuss the details of the new process on Thursday 5/29. Keep an eye on your inboxes for invitations.

New HMIS Contributory Organization

The HMIS Team would like to welcome the newest addition to our community, The Bexar County Public Defender's Office.

The Social Work team within this department provides wraparound services to assist their clients (many of whom are facing chronic homelessness) in not returning to the legal system.
