Affordable housing makes living on Sanibel possible for people who otherwise may not be able to, creates diversity on the island, and most importantly, gives a “hand up” to many deserving people.

CHR is funded through Grants, Residents' Rent, and Support & Donations from our generous community.

The CHR Crew! We are so blessed to have these hard-working guys as part of the team! They finished some beautiful mailboxes at Airport Way and Mahogany Way.

We were excited to celebrate Blake Donnelly and mark his one-year anniversary with CHR!

Congratulations to our own Anna Johnson on your induction into Zonta, a very impactful club! We are so proud of you!

Angela was inducted into the Kiwanis Sanibel Captiva. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Sanibel Captiva Community Bank on winning the Corporate Citizens award for the massive support you have provided to CHR and the community! We couldn't do this without you!

We enjoy hearing about how CHR is a positive and life-changing experience for all of our residents and local businesses.

Second Job Reminder!

The CHR Board is providing an opportunity for our residents that supports the needs of our business community with the option to obtain a second job on Sanibel or at a Sanibel-based business located on Captiva. We have modified the CHR rental agreement to not incur an increase in rent from the income resulting from the second job. This allows our residents to grow their financial stability and support economic recovery for the businesses on the Island.

Please note: To qualify for housing, CHR residents will need to maintain a full-time position on Sanibel Island or at a Sanibel Island-based business (unless otherwise stated in the resident's lease).

Here are some great Island businesses that need some help!

"Be an Eco-Warrior, not an Eco-Worrier" It is very important to be conscious of how we throw away used and unwanted items. There is a Recycling Center on Dunlop Road across from the Library. Click the link to find out more information on how to recycle properly!

Recycling tips

Every community has different recycling “rules” based on their sorting process and sale of recycled materials.

Here are some tips to make recycling more efficient at Lake Palms:

·       Flatten all boxes - even the small ones

·       Clean containers - no food scraps or stains

·       No foam, no plastic bags (some stores will recycle these)

·       Empty bags into the bins. Recyclables will co-mingle and save space
