BCDI-Atlanta May Activity Guides: Taking Care of Our Feelings, Mental Health Awareness!

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, BCDI-Atlanta proudly presents the “Taking Care of Our Feelings” Activity Guides, created specifically for parents and early educators to support the emotional well-being of young children.

These age-appropriate guides provide engaging, hands-on activities and conversation starters to help children explore, understand, and express their feelings in healthy ways.

Ages 0–5 Guide: Focuses on nurturing emotional awareness through sensory play, facial expression recognition, and storytime routines.

Ages 6–8 Guide: Introduces more advanced emotional vocabulary, reflective journaling prompts, and creative exercises that promote self-regulation and empathy.

Let’s work together to build strong social-emotional foundations, because every feeling matters!

At BCDI-Atlanta, mental health matters. From June through August, we’ll be observing Summer Fridays by closing our offices to prioritize staff well-being and promote a healthy work-life balance.

Join Us TONIGHT for Our Community Cafe!

BCDI-Atlanta invites you to an important conversation, "Nurturing Mental Wellness in Black Children: A Community Approach," taking place TONIGHT from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM ET.

This virtual event will feature insights from Sharon Myers, See My Dog Child and Family, Developmental Services, LLC. and Dr. Clarissa Alderman, Family Insight, LLC, as they discuss community-rooted strategies to support the mental wellness of Black children.

In observance of Memorial Day, BCDI-Atlanta’s office will be closed from Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26, 2025. We honor and remember those who have served. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, May 27.

Join our L.E.A.N. Community gathering for early childhood education (ECE) professionals. This month, we are proud to feature Lamont Jones, a distinguished transformational speaker, fatherhood coach, and CEO of Furthering Fathering. His insights and expertise will undoubtedly provide valuable perspectives.

BCDI-Atlanta’s L.E.A.N. Community (Leadership & Equity Advancement Network) supports ECE professionals through training and group learning. Our Lattes & Learning event focuses on workforce development:

Engaging Discussions: Explore strategies for self-awareness and inclusive workplaces.

Professional Development: Learn from experts about leadership and career growth in ECE.

Networking Opportunities: Connect with others committed to improving the ECE workforce.

Whether you are an ECE director, administrator, or educator, Lattes & Learning will give you the tools and support you need to make a difference.
