MEET THE NEWEST EMPLOYEES OF THE SBCERS MEMBER SERVICES TEAM

SBCERS is delighted to welcome three new members to our Member Services team: Helen Rudin (Retirement Payroll Analyst), Dillon Brown (Retirement Payroll Analyst), and Crystal Cruz (Financial Office Professional Senior).

Each of them brings a strong background in public service, with expertise in law, administration, and accounting. We are thrilled to have them on board and look forward to their contributions to our team’s success!

What is your specialty in your position?

Crystal: "As a Financial Office Professional, I maintain and update account system records, ensuring accuracy and compliance. I also oversee the member separation process and manage beneficiary and address changes."

Dillon: "I help oversee several key processes, including service purchase buybacks, decedent reporting, domestic relations order joinders, post-retirement extra help requests, and retiree health insurance requests."

Helen: "I serve as a lead for our service purchase contracts process and provide support for the reciprocity program. I also, unofficially, handle IT tech support for our membership team."

What have you enjoyed most since starting at SBCERS?

Crystal: "The positive and inclusive work environment has been the best part of joining SBCERS. The team is incredibly welcoming, supportive, and knowledgeable."

Dillon: "SBCERS feels like a family. Everyone is genuinely helpful, fostering a rare and valuable sense of community in the workplace."

Helen: "I’ve really appreciated how welcoming and supportive everyone has been. The willingness to share knowledge and set us up for success is truly remarkable."

What do you hope to accomplish at SBCERS?

Crystal: "I aim to master my current responsibilities while continuing to expand my knowledge. I look forward to taking on new challenges and growing within the organization."

Dillon: "The opportunities for personal and professional growth here are endless. I hope to become proficient in understanding the many processes and legal aspects of the retirement system."

Helen: "I want to deepen my understanding of the legal framework of retirement, including how CERL has evolved over time. The complexities of retirement calculations and all their intricacies truly fascinate me."
