As I approach the final months of my four-years as your President, I am filled with both gratitude and determination. Our journey together reflects the progress we have made and the enduring conservative principles that bind us.
Over the past few years, we have tackled issues that resonate deeply with Republican women in Arizona - championing policies that protect our communities, strengthen family values, and create an environment where every woman can reach her full potential. Your unwavering passion and commitment have built a legacy that will empower the next generation of conservative leaders.
Family and faith remain the cornerstones of our community—a truth made evident in our ongoing debates over parental rights in education and the need for curricula that truly reflect our values. At the recent Scottsdale Unified School District board meeting, community members, including police officers’ voices, fought to overturn a proposed history curriculum that many of us believe was not grounded in verifiable facts but instead laden with propaganda and indoctrination. Despite our determined challenge, the governing board approved the curriculum on a 3-2 vote with both of our PVRW members, Carine Werner and Amy Carney strongly objecting.
According to my husband, Officer Jim Hill, MCCPOA President with 38 years of service, “The decision to approve a curriculum steeped in propaganda rather than factual history is not only a disservice to our children, but it also undermines the very foundation of an education meant to empower them with truth.”
His words resonated deeply with those present, reflecting the widespread concern that our educational system must remain a bastion of fact-based learning, free from indoctrination.
Our political landscape is dynamic, and with elections on the horizon, grassroots engagement has never been more crucial. Whether you are attending Learn and Lunches, serving on the Education Committee, speaking at school board meetings, serving on city or county commissions, training as Deputy Registrars, running for office, attending local town halls, supporting local candidates, or engaging in community outreach initiatives, every voice is powerful and capable of shaping Arizona’s future!
My commitment to our conservative fight remains unwavering. Let us focus on robust civic engagement, strengthen our community networks, and ensure that our collective efforts pave the way for continued success even after my leadership concludes. I urge you to join us at our upcoming events. Together, we will lead with conviction, share our stories, and build a legacy that inspires future generations of Republican women to be bold, brave, and unyielding in the pursuit of our cherished ideals.
I hope to see many of you attend the AZFRW meeting coming up June 19-21st in Mesa.
We are the future of Arizona and America!
Enjoy a safe Memorial Day Weekend, wear your red, white, and blue with pride, support our military, and stand with our police.

By the time you read this, we will have experienced the presentation from John Lannarelli, or FBI John. I hope you all enjoyed him and learned something from him. For those of you who brought a husband or spouse or significant other, I’m sure they were glad they attended.

As June approaches, we will all be making plans for our summer efforts to avoid the heat. Our winter and spring were so beautiful that I must keep telling myself that if our summer heat didn’t occur, everyone would want to live here, and we would have no open space!
Our June meeting will be our last meeting prior to our summer break as we do not meet during July and August in non-election years. We will feature two amazing speakers for this meeting:
- Joseph Chaplik, House Representative for LD3, will give us a year-end wrap up on the legislature’s accomplishments and frustrations. Joseph has the highest Republican rating in the House, and he’s always an entertaining and educational speaker.
- Irene Pi Arizona State Director of the National Vaccine Information Center, working with MAHA director, Robert F Kennedy, Jr. I am personally not very familiar with the MAHA movement, and she will be addressing their goals and progress. Her expertise on vaccines should be very informative, and I know we will learn much from Irene.
June Luncheon Registration is NOW Open!
Starting this month and going forward, we're extending the lunch registration period to begin right after the monthly luncheon. This is to allow our members to register for lunch right after our meetings while the topics are fresh on their minds. Unfortunately, we can NOT extend the deadline for registrations as these are set in our contract with the venue. So please make your lunch reservations as soon as you get this newsletter. We hope this change in policy will eliminate last minute “I forgot to register” issues.

The Region VIII Education Committee meeting will be held:
June 6th, 11:30 AM
Vito’s Pizza and Italian Ristorante
18221 N Pima Road, Scottsdale
Many serious issues will be discussed:
- the closing of many public elementary schools,
- the question of whether hundreds of thousands of foreign students will be allowed to return to college in the USA,
- what is going on at Harvard and Columbia and what can be done about it,
- how can parents and citizens gain more control over the curriculum that is being taught to our children in K-12, colleges and universities,
- what can be done to protect Jewish students in K-12, colleges and universities.
These are some of the problems facing us in the field of Education locally, state-wide and nationally. It is imperative that ALL of us become actively involved so that this generation of our children not only learn to read and write but also learn to be patriotic and love our country.

Americanism Moment
Memorial Day
May 2025
For many of the citizens in the USA, Memorial Day weekend kicks off the beginning of summer trips and vacations to be with friends and family members.
When we take a deeper view of what Memorial Day is, and was in the past, we realize that American men and women forfeited their lives to protect our Freedom, so that we now can celebrate the results of their sacrifices.
How did this day become memorialized? On May 5, 1868, just three years after the Civil War ended, Major General John A Logan from the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), a Union organization, established Decoration Day to be held on May 30th annually. He felt the spring flowers could embellish their graves and provide them with dignity. Women from the South, led by Mary Ann Williams, initiated much of the spreading of flowers on the graves.
The first large observation took place at Arlington National Cemetery on May 5, 1868. General and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant presided over the ceremonies. The term Memorial Day was first used in 1882. In 1915, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote the poem “In Flanders Fields after which it became slowly popular to wear a poppy, in remembrance of the fallen soldiers. In 2000, Congress passed the National Moment of Remembrance Act,
asking people to stop, and remember for one minute, the fallen soldiers at 3:00PM on Memorial Day.
