Hello from Kate

It’s hard to believe the Summer Soirée is approaching next month. It more or less marks my second year at Staying Put. In that time, I have had the privilege of meeting, helping and serving hundreds of members. We have logged countless hours in good conversation, hundreds of miles driving to and from appointments, dozens of books at Book Talk, and loops upon loops at IrwinPark. None of this could happen without you gifting us of your time and trusting us to be there when you need us. It’s one of the reasons we always ask for you to RSVP and book your rides early and often- so we can be sure we are there for you.

It reminds me of my first Summer Soirée when the forest fires in Canada caused the air quality in the Northeast to drive our event indoors. Fortunately, we had our list of RSVPs so we could call each member, volunteer, donor, sponsor and colleague to let them know that while the show would still go on, we were taking every precaution necessary to ensure everyone was safe. It’s why we ask for those RSVPs—not because we believe forest fires are always going to cause a problem (!) –but rather, we can ensure we have enough space, enough food, and time to remind our members or alert everyone to any changes that might arise. In that spirit of communication, please join us at the Soirée this year, Thursday, June 5th. I plan to see you there and toast to another year ahead with the Staying Put Community.
