Painting a Speckled Pear

Using watercolors, colored pencils, and scissors, create a beautiful speckled pear painting!


All skill levels are welcome to attend.

Letter Writing Club

Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 at 5:30pm


Join The Letter Writing Club and pledge to write one letter each month for the entire year.


Club members are encouraged to gather at Sturgis Library on the second Tuesday of the month where stationery, art supplies, a letter prompt, and a sense of connection will be provided.


If gathering in person is not possible, letter prompts can be emailed to club members.

The Art of Picture Books

Friday, May 8th, 2026 at 12:30pm


Adults are invited to join Children's Librarian Christy Munier for a monthly gathering honoring the brilliance of picture books and picture book art.


This gathering will focus on the artwork of Brizida Magro.

Writing Cape Cod: Nature and Memoir Writing with David Gessner

Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 at 5:30pm


Join us for a special evening with David Gessner, a New York Times bestselling author whose fourteen books weave together the natural world, humor, memoir, and environmentalism. 


David will share the tools and instincts behind nature memoir writing with a special focus on the beauty of Cape Cod. Attendees will leave with a take-home practice component to try on their own. 


For writers, readers, and anyone who loves Cape Cod. 


Copies of David’s work will be available for purchase thanks to Titcomb’s Bookshop.

Beaded Bracelet Making

Come to Sturgis Library’s bead buffet and make a bracelet for yourself, a friend, or both!

Weekly Storytime

Wednesdays at 10:30am


Kiddos and their grownups are invited to join Children's Librarian Christy to share a story, illustrate a picture, talk with friends, and learn about nature at Sturgis Library's weekly Storytime!


Geared to ages 1-3 but all are welcome to attend.

Master Builders of all ages are invited to swing by Sturgis Library to create a Lego masterpiece!

May Art Exhibits

Grace Coyle


Grace Coyle lives in Hyannis where she attends 7th grade at Barnstable Intermediate School. 


Throughout the month of May her handmade earrings, bracelets and wine charms will be on display and for sale. 


In her free time she loves to read, craft, take photos and play with her dog and cat. 


She hopes you enjoy her jewelry creations as she has put a lot of effort into to them.


Helen Pond and Herbert Senn Theater Set Designs


Helen Pond and Herbert Senn were noted theater set designers for the Cape Playhouse, Boston Ballet, Opera Company of Boston, theaters in New York City -- both Broadway and off-Broadway -- and many other venues. Sturgis Library has a collection of their theater set renderings, plans, photographs, models, and other materials related to set designs. The collection also includes articles about their lives and work at their home in a former church on Church Street in Yarmouth Port. The collection was donated to the Library by Deirdre and Barry Paster.
