CHEERS TO THE GRADUATES

Our 8th graders have graduated, and we could not be more proud of this group of young men and women. During their final days of school, they led morning chapel, recited scripture, and reflected on their time at WDCS. Here is just one of the notable reflections from this special morning:

"
I stand here proudly giving all thanks to the Lord, because without him I would be nothing. When I first came to WDCS, I didn't realize how much this school would impact me beyond academics. Through chapel, I learned the importance of stopping in the middle of a busy week to focus on God. It became more than just a place we came to, but it became a moment to reflect, pray, and be reminded of His presence in our lives." -- Amaya

The 8th graders concluded their time at WDCS with a heartfelt Ceremony of Blessing, marked by both laughter and tears. One by one, teachers called each student forward to speak words of encouragement, prayer, and blessing over them before sending them off as graduates. The evening ended with a joyful celebration hosted at Mercy Street’s facility. We are proud to announce that these students will be attending the following high schools across Dallas:

Trinity Christian Academy

The Cambridge School of Dallas

St. Mark's School of Texas

Townview Health
Pantego Christian Academy

South Grand Prairie High School

FIELD DAY FUN!

The perfect way to close out the school year! At Field Day, students competed in water games, gave it their all during tug-of-war, and wrapped up the morning with hot dogs served by our Champions Club volunteers. It was a joy-filled celebration to end another incredible year at WDCS.

Summer School Support

Summer learning loss has a huge impact on children growing up in poverty. Without access to books and encouragement to read, children can experience significant setbacks in reading and math. At West Dallas Community School, we offer a Summer Reading Program with incentives for students to keep reading during the summer. The library is open for students and parents to visit and check out books. In addition, WDCS provides two weeks of remedial instruction in math, reading, and language arts for students needing additional support.

Help us to break the cycle of generational poverty by donating to our Summer Stock initiative.

TRINITY, CLASS OF 2025

WDCS alumna Trinity Munyardazi, Class of 2025, currently attends The Hockaday School. Trinity is bright, driven, and a loyal friend whose impact continues to be felt within the WDCS community. Reflecting on her time at WDCS, she shares:

“Going to WDCS helped me to foster a love of God from a young age. Having gone to the school since I was four years old, I grew up hearing stories of faith and prayer on a regular basis, and was given examples of how to include God in my everyday life. The faculty also served as a community of adults who were strong in their faith.”

Today, Trinity serves on our WDCS Teen Board, a high school leadership and service group dedicated to giving back to the school community. For the upcoming school year, she will be a Service Co-Chair on the Teen Board and contribute to the school that helped shape her journey.
