Foundation News: May 2026

Explore these summer opportunities from IUMF:

HELP loans open June 1st

Student loan debt can be a heavy burden in ministry, but the Foundation’s HELP (Higher Education Loan Partners) program is designed to provide relief.

Through HELP, eligible pastors serving in the Iowa Annual Conference can refinance seminary and other qualifying educational loans at a low 2.5% interest rate—potentially saving hundreds in monthly payments and thousands over time. The program also includes debt from post-ordination and doctoral degrees, expanding support for continued education.

Applications are open annually from June 1 through September 1. Visit our website to learn more and apply.

Saving Grace course available online

Financial well-being is an important part of holistic well-being in ministry, and the Foundation’s Saving Grace course is designed to help pastors and church leaders build confidence in managing money faithfully and practically.

Using the Wesleyan-centered curriculum developed by Wespath and Abingdon Press, IUMF offers the entire Saving Grace course through a series of online videos, allowing participants to complete the program at their own pace. Pastors who complete all ten sessions can receive 1 CEU.

Email us at info@iumf.org to receive the password to the course website and access course materials.

Carma Mohler grants open July 1st

Through the generosity and vision of Carma Mohler, IUMF is honored to support ministries and organizations working to combat hunger across Iowa.

Each year, Carma Mohler Hunger Relief Grants are awarded to UM-affiliated programs addressing food insecurity in their communities. Past recipients include food pantries, backpack programs, community gardens, and other outreach efforts making a meaningful difference.

Applications will be accepted July 1 through October 1. If your church or organization is working to address hunger in Iowa, we encourage you to review the grant criteria and apply through our website.

Estate planning made simple

Planning for the future can bring clarity and peace of mind—and the Foundation is here to help through Our Gift to You. In partnership with Thompson & Associates, the Foundation offers complimentary estate planning guidance with attorney Johni Hays.

Participants can meet virtually or in person to ask questions, review existing documents, or begin creating an estate plan that reflects their values and goals. There is no cost to participate, no obligation to continue beyond an initial conversation, and no requirement to include any gift. Meetings are completely confidential between you and Johni.

Whether you simply have a question about your will or are ready to begin planning more intentionally, this program is designed to provide thoughtful guidance and peace of mind. To schedule an initial meeting, email us at info@iumf.org.
