Be Heard: Share Your Voice in the Downtown Parking Study
Downtown Burlington continues to experience exciting momentum. New businesses are opening, millions of dollars are being invested in buildings and infrastructure, and residential living in the district continues to grow. As downtown evolves, so do the needs of those who live, work, own businesses, and visit the area.
To help plan for the future, the City of Burlington is conducting an updated Downtown Parking Study, and community input is a critical part of the process.
The study, conducted in partnership with the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission and Downtown Partners, Inc., will evaluate current parking conditions, identify challenges, and help guide future improvements. The last comprehensive downtown parking study was completed in 2016, and with the significant changes that have occurred over the past decade, this update will help ensure downtown remains accessible, functional, and welcoming for everyone.
Community members are encouraged to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share their experiences. The survey explores a variety of topics, including:
• When and why people visit downtown
• Where individuals typically park and how easy it is to find a space
• Opinions on parking availability, safety, and accessibility
• Willingness to walk certain distances and preferences for parking options
• Feedback from residents, employees, business owners, and visitors
• Ideas for improvements such as signage, lighting, and infrastructure
In addition to current parking conditions, the survey also examines future-focused opportunities, including electric vehicle charging stations, enhanced pedestrian connections, and other improvements that could make downtown more accessible and user-friendly.
Every response helps create a clearer understanding of how parking is being used today and what investments could have the greatest impact moving forward. Whether you visit downtown every day, work in the district, attend special events, or stop by occasionally, your perspective matters.
Downtown Burlington is a shared community asset. Thoughtful planning and informed decision-making help ensure it remains vibrant, accessible, and welcoming for years to come.

Take a few moments to complete the survey and help shape the future of Downtown Burlington, where It's Happening.
