Your Water Story: Amy Hartsfield

Telling her Water Story, meet the City of Eugene Wastewater's Safety and Emergency Manager, Amy Hartsfield!

"I get daily satisfaction form ensuring wastewater employees have everything they need to do their work safely," shares Amy.

"This work benefits employees and our entire community by ensuring we have enough staff to do the work of cleaning wastewater and protecting our environment. I'm proud of my water story."

Tour Opportunity - RSVP Required

We have received a growing interest in touring the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility! We're offering a public tour on Friday, May 29, at 3:00 p.m., dependent on sign-ups.

Please email aremington@springfield-or.gov with questions and to RSVP if you would like to attend.

A minimum level of participation is needed for the tour to move forward. Following the RSVP deadline of Monday, May 18, we will assess tour feasibility based on the number of confirmed attendees. Due to safety procedures at the plant, please do not attend without RSVPing.

Celebrating National Public Works Week

National Public Works Week is May 17–23, and this year’s theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” recognizes the essential work public works professionals do every day to keep communities healthy, safe, and connected.

At the MWMC, that service happens around the clock – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! We clean an average of 35 million gallons of wastewater a day from homes and businesses across Eugene, Springfield, and Lane County.

Wastewater treatment is something most people rarely think about until there’s a problem, yet it plays a vital role in protecting public health, local waterways, and the quality of life throughout our region. This National Public Works Week, give a shout-out to the dedicated employees and partner agencies whose work helps keep our communities running every day!
