Hello Neighbors and Friends -
We have a strong and dedicated community of Veterans, activity military members and their families in Westborough. This upcoming Memorial Day Weekend, we would typically gather together as a community to honor residents who died while serving our country. Westborough Veterans and military members, with support from town officials, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Westborough Public Schools Fine Arts program and others, always do an amazing job pulling together a wonderful parade which travels through our community cemeteries and downtown area - with residents of all ages lining the streets to watch. While the parade could not take place this year, Westborough Veterans and Westborough TV have been working hard on a video project to commemorate the day. We will be sure to share the link and information as soon as we have it. You can also tune into Westborough TV channels and check their web site
HERE
. In the meantime, I want to say
THANK YOU
to all our readers who have served in our military and thank you for the beautiful way you continue to honor those who have passed.
The parade is one example of the way our community comes together with traditions that are important. For Muslims, this weekend will also mark the end of Ramadan, with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. While the breaking of the fast cannot be fully enjoyed in the same ways, the spirit of deep traditions will remain. I wish all those celebrating
Eid Mubarak.
We all look forward to the time when we can resume important traditions that bring people together. We will get there! For now, let's continue to reach out to one another, deepen our connections with people we know and love, and open our hearts to those around us.
I know many of your are overloaded by emails in your inbox each week and I hope that you can take a break from that over this upcoming stretch of beautiful weather. To that end, this email is more brief than normal with just a few "event" items to share.
Through the
Community Crafts & Activities Swap Program
, we've collected some great stuff over the past two weeks!
REMEMBER
to come to the front lawn of the Westborough Public Library from
10am-noon on Friday
to pick up some puzzles, games and craft supplies for FREE! (see flyer and donation photos below).
Finally, please continue to share your photos and short reflections on life right now for our Together. Apart. Always. project (see below). We love seeing all of the different perspectives and moments that you have all captured over the past few weeks. We want this project to be truly representative of the community, so please share information about it with your friends and neighbors!
Yours in community,
