HSC Grateful for Community Response During Pandemic
The Human Services Campus is so very grateful for the philanthropic, government, corporate and individual support we have received to help us respond to the pandemic. Our community's willingness to walk with us through this unprecedented challenge has made it possible for us to adapt to continually changing needs as a result of the Coronavirus in order to keep our clients safe and healthy. Your generosity ensures that we can continue to end homelessness for people every day. Thank you everyone. We are all in this together!
A Note from Amy Schwabenlender, Executive Director
The increasing temperatures in Phoenix are a strain on everyone. I am amazed and baffled how people can live and survive outside. The level of resilience is impressive; the amount of mental illness and self-medication with alcohol and other substances overwhelmingly sad. Our request to add shelter beds is stalled due to virtual meetings and priority on COVID-19 response. And from my office windows I watch as Phoenix Fire and Campus EMTs are called out with greater frequency to people on the streets suffering from the effects of heat. We are not able to offer shelter to each and every one of them. At the pace of the temperatures rising, my heart breaks at the same increasing pace. In the short-term, you can help by supporting our ThirstAid Water Drive . In the long-term, please support our request for more shelter beds and visit our From Street to Home website.

We need at least 60,000 water bottles / month to keep our clients hydrated and healthy.
Homelessness is not a choice. The reasons men and women experience homelessness are as diverse as they are.

To address the challenge, the Human Services Campus and our collaborating partners are seeking Phoenix City Council approval to add more shelter beds.

We are not expanding the Campus. We need permission to use our existing space for those men and women already at and near the Campus, so that more people can sleep inside.
