This week's Time Saver / Helpful Hint is:

"Accrual calculations for Series I Savings Bonds "

When we prepare an IRS Form 706 estate tax or IRS Form 709 gift tax valuation, we do not include accrual calculations for US Series I savings bonds because the series I bond is a zero-coupon bond, meaning that no interest is paid during the life of the bond. The interest is, instead, added back to the value of the bond and earns interest on interest.
