SUNDAY REFLECTION

Welcome to Our New Principal

Dear Parishioners,

I am thrilled to announce that Mr. David Cortese, Jr. has accepted the invitation to serve as principal for the 2022-2023 school year at St. Martin of Tours School, and I hope that you will join me in welcoming him into our Saint Martin of Tours community.

Mr. Cortese, Jr. is a passionate educational professional committed to the ministry of Catholic education, who joins us from St. Justin School where he is currently serving as vice principal. Prior to that, he was a teacher at Holy Spirit School and a youth minister in the Diocese of San Jose. Mr. Cortese. Jr. holds a MA in Education from Santa Clara University and will be graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a MA in Educational Leadership this coming July. We are confident that he has many of the qualities our community voiced, and he will be a strong leader and advocate for the school.

We cannot, however, welcome our new principal without first acknowledging and thanking Mrs. Deborah Gisi-Rodriguez for her years of dedicated service to our children and our community. Without a doubt, Mrs. Deborah Gisi-Rodriguez will be missed. She brought to our school her own unique talents, personality, wisdom, love, and a passion that inspired her leadership. We pray and hope that her legacy as an educational visionary, as well as her devotion to her students, staff and community will continue.

Many Blessings,

Fr. Saju

Family Reflection...

May 22, 2022 6th Sunday of Easter

Acts 15:1-2, 22-29 • Revelation 21:10-14, 22-23 • John 14:23-29

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” —John 14:27

What does the world say will bring us peace? Being popular at school? Winning at video games? Making a sports team? Being the star in a play? For parents, it might be a promotion at work, an exotic vacation, having plenty of money to invest so it will make even more money for us, or perhaps good health. All these things can give us peace, but only for a while. There will always be something new that we need or desire. Even our health will only last for a limited time, since we will all eventually die. Jesus offers us a different kind of peace; one that will never end. It is the peace of heaven, where we will be surrounded by unconditional love and there will be no more tears or suffering.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we so desire the lasting peace you promise. Please help us to set our sights on heaven instead of on the provisions of this world. Help us obey you in all things.

Family Reflection: When have we felt the peace Jesus promises?
