Greetings Friends and Neighbors,

As many enjoy the long weekend with their families during what has become the unofficial start of summer, we must also remember the profound sacrifice of the brave men and women of our military. Their courage and service secured the freedoms we enjoy every day and remind us that liberty is never free.

We also honor the military families who have carried the memory of their loved ones with pride, strength, and deep love for this country.

Memorial Day reminds us of the importance of unity, service, and caring for one another here at home. The best way to honor the legacy of our fallen heroes is by living the values they fought to protect: freedom, unity, commitment to one another, and support for those who serve.

Rain or shine, I will be out there alongside our neighbors and community organizations, honoring our heroes and celebrating the spirit of our community.

Monday, May 25th, our district office will be closed in observance of Memorial Day, but we will re-open with regular hours on Tuesday, May 26. Please feel free to reach out office via email or leave a voice message.

This week at City Hall, the Committee on Consumer and Worker Protection had a vote, where I voted aye, on Int 837-A by Council Member Salaam (CD 9) in relation to public outreach and education program regarding Hajj and Umrah related scams.

As a council body, we passed Intro 93-A by Council Member Brewer (CD 6) which would require the Department of Transportation to install at least 5,000 bicycle parking stations over a period of five years ensuring community engagement throughout the process.

This week, I had the opportunity to tour and learn more about the Max and Celia Parnes Family Psychological and Psychoeducational Services Clinic, located at 1225 Morris Park Ave. The clinic provides low-cost, confidential, and state-of-the-art mental health services to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. In addition to offering a wide range of psychological services for individuals and families, the clinic also serves as a teaching and training center for students at Yeshiva University.

I was honored to attend the Community Education Council's School & Leadership Dinner with CEC of District 11, where we celebrated the influence, service, and dedication of our hardworking schools, community, and parent leadership. As always, I'm grateful and appreciative of our teachers, students, and parents for the work they do in our community and schools. I won't give up advocating for our schools and teachers.

Later that night, I attended the Community Board 10, connecting with constituents and hearing their concerns. Thank you for always having me and my team at CB 10 meetings!
