Message from President
Carrie Pavis
Hello Beautiful Soropti Sisters,

I can’t believe that we are coming down to our final month of this club year. It sure has been an interesting one. This week is our committee meetings and for most is the last committee meeting this club year. We still can’t meet face to face and are adapting to using Zoom Video Conference Calling. Even the technically challenged members are zooming in and learning as we go.  Teamwork makes the dream work.

Next week is our final Business Meeting, followed by New Committee Review, then my President’s Farewell.

See you on Zoom!

President,

Governor Lane's Message - SNR Conference News May 18, 2020
HOT OFF THE PRESSES!

Conference:  It has been decided by your Board of Directors, that the 44 th  annual Sierra Nevada Region Conference will be held on line this year. The Atlantis is still closed and time frames and state requirements are vague at this point. Elections have already been successfully done on line and the four “pillar” presentations are on the website. We are working on getting the rest of our agenda on line as well!
If you had previously registered for Conference and paid meals, program ads, or other fees on line through our registration portal, you don’t need to do anything . You will receive a full refund  onto the credit card that you used to register. If you don’t see a refund in a reasonable time frame, please contact Treasurer Sheron.

Watch for upcoming announcements of the details of how we will be conducting the business of conference.

Soroptimist Development Retreat (SDR):    The final decision for SDR has not been made yet. We would appreciate a minute of your time to answer this  two-question survey  regarding SDR.

Annual Dues:  The Board of Directors values all members. We realize that times are difficult right now and women and girls need us now more than ever. We need to retain as many members as possible and realize that many may be facing financial distress. We have made a bold move. We have voted to waive region dues this year. We have reserve funds that are there for emergency situations and this is certainly an unprecedented time. Please know that this move is to illustrate our belief in our mission and our need for members to make it a reality in the future. We care about YOU!

This waiver is for the annual dues that are due July 1 only.  Each club sets its own club dues each year. Club dues consist of SIA dues, Region dues and club dues. Region dues are $25 per person and clubs should adjust their annual dues by $25 to reflect this reduction. Please note that SIA has a program in place to request relief from SIA dues if you have been adversely affected by COVID-19. It’s first come, first serve, and needs to go through your club treasurer. That information is   here .

We encourage clubs to determine if they have any way to help with dues relief as well. Some clubs are struggling to survive, but some have reserves. It is a hard decision to make, but if we don’t have members, we cannot fulfill our mission of helping women and girls. We must help each other as well. Let’s be bold together!

Virtual hugs to you all!

100 Year Legacy Project
This project will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Soroptimist. Our organization was started by a dedicated group of women who came together to network and help improve the lives of women and girls.

In honor of our founding sisters and to celebrate our SI Chico Club history, we would like to do a club legacy project that will benefit our local community for years to come. This project will be a joint project starting during President Billie’s club year and continuing through President Sara's club year.

Billie and Sara are compiling a list of suggestions for our SI Chico Club Legacy Project. They would like to encourage all club members to share their suggestions through this survey. If you have an idea how our club could make a lasting impact on our local community through our 100 Year Legacy Project please submit it.

With Gratitude,

Billie and Sara

As you may have suspected, The 2020 Home and Garden Show will not be taking place this month as originally planned. Instead, it has been rescheduled to the new dates of July 25 and July 26 . Our obligation and schedule will remain the same, however we will start over with a new sign-up genius. We realize it's difficult to know what our plans will be in July, but please go ahead and sign up and each of us can easily change our chosen shift if needed at a later date.

Thank-you everyone!
