Memorial Day Weekend Edition

Greetings Bradley Beach-

Memorial Day Weekend is upon us- and Bradley Beach is ready!! Looks like continued good weather is in front of us- just needs to warm up a bit more this weekend and next week to get us in the mood for SUMMER!

Project #1 Beachfront

Outfall Pipe on Ocean Park/ McCabe Avenue beaches.  Progress continues through week 6.  Mobilization, Sheathing, dewatering, and excavation/ removal of the 48-inch existing pipe, (about 80 feet in total), and the 36-inch pipe (about 140-feet) is completing by Friday.   All pipe deliveries are in. After these important steps, the removal of the sheathing, clean-up, and demobilization.  All activities are weather dependent and subject to final material deliveries being on time.  So far- so good! On schedule and no surprises

We are still predicting all beach access and locker and mat placement will be in place before July 1st.  We appreciate your ability to adapt for a few weeks for this important project.  Safety First!

Project #2 Completing the “Phase II” Sewer project.

The curbing and apron work is progressing on schedule; and we are still working with a revised completion date- the first week of June.  We have completed the work for Third and  Ocean Avenues; and a number of the side-streets.   Although we have moved to Fourth Avenue for concrete work, we don’t want to start milling and paving if we cannot complete that task this week- to minimize disruption over the Memorial Day weekend.   Additionally, equipment will be off the streets for the most part- a plus.  The key reason for the elongation of time to complete is the extent of the concrete work.  We will resume early next week and complete the project shortly thereafter.  Although disappointing to us, we are committed to delivering the best product we can; and that is new curbs, driveway aprons, and ADA compliant corners- along with newly paved roads! Landscaping will occur right after paving is complete.

Project #3 Walking Bridge

The walking bridge on Lake Terrace Drive between Bradley Beach and Ocean Grove- receiving a needed facelift.  We received and installed the new wire guards that complemented the wooden railings.  This style is like the construction on the new pier in Ocean Grove.  We are CO M P L E T E!   We are planning a “ribbon cutting” in the coming weeks- hope you can attend!

I had the opportunity on Tuesday to meet with some leaders from the BB Elementary School.  The SOLE SISTERS are a running club formed last year and are very enthusiastic about this activity!  Love the runners!!

We are finishing beach preparations.  We added 3 disabled lockers at each beach and a few other enhancements to help the disabled have a great beach experience.  We hope this will be a success.

We had the return visit of our friends from Raritan Valley College to restore boundaries put around the east side of our dunes last year.  Many thanks to the Pinelands Preservation Alliance & Association of NJ Environmental Commissions for their leadership.

Our Memorial Day weekend officially kicks off our summer here in Bradley.  Our Parade on Ocean Avenue starts at 10:00 AM.  Following that, we have vendors and food trucks/stands, along with a few surprises for the children planned for Saturday and Sunday.  Please join us.  More importantly, our Memorial Day ceremony is at Riley Park on Monday at 11:00 AM- a moving event.

We are  ready for the summer season to start.  Public Works, Public Safety, the Beach TEAM, and the Administration have been working hard to ensure 2023 is our best summer season ever.  We hope you fully participate in our Bradley Beach Experience.

We have a lot to be thankful for here in Bradley Beach, and much to celebrate. We will continue to focus on Service and Progress as a Municipal Team.

Thank you- and see you around town!
