City Departments - Office of the City Manager
The next City department to highlight is the Office of the City Manager (OCM).

This department oversees a wide range of City services like human resources, welcoming folks at City Hall, contract negotiations, community relations, information systems and technologies, public records, business licensing, and more. The City Council and I work closely with OCM to receive the information needed to make informed decisions regarding City policies.

Our esteemed City Manager, Amy Hamilton (pictured in the center), has been serving the residents of Richmond Heights since 2000 and is well respected in her field.

The OCM Department is overseen by the Assistant City Manager Pam Hylton who has been with the City since 2015. She brings invaluable knowledge and experience to RH from her previous roles in local government. Human Resources, Community Relations Coordinator, and the City Hall General Clerks are also part of OCM. Pam shared, “The Office of the City Manager team works hard everyday to serve and inform the residents of Richmond Heights. We also work hard to make sure our employees have the benefits and resources necessary to keep this great City running smoothly. I can't imagine a better team to get this job done everyday!”

If you have a question about or concern with City services, OCM is here to assist you!
Youth Programs
As a retired teacher, I think it’s important to touch the lives of kids in Richmond Heights. We have a number of programs to keep our youth involved.

The Mayor's Youth Council is made up of 8th grade students who attend various schools. We meet once a month from October to April to discuss local government, complete a service project, and enjoy some tasty snacks. One of the Council’s greatest projects was the Hope Box placed outside THE HEIGHTS. It was created by the 2019 Youth Council who cut the wood, painted, and assembled it. (the original version). They believed we need to share with those in need so they created a place for those in need to find non-perishable items like canned food and personal hygiene supplies. On the front it states, “Give what you can, take what you need.” I’m very proud of the group's efforts.
Another suggestion from the Youth Council was to open the gym at THE HEIGHTS Community Center after school. Students in 7th-12th grade can use the facility from 4-6 p.m. at no charge during the school year. This includes the indoor pool, the gymnasium, and the adult fitness area or youth fitness area depending on age.

THE HEIGHTS Community Center hosts swim lessons (through the British Swim School) and the Imagination Station summer camp for children ages 5-12 as well.

As a student and during the summer as a teacher, I was always looking for a summer job. The City needs camp counselors to work Monday-Friday during the day. All you have to do is be 16 or older and enjoy working with children.

One other position we are always looking for is lifeguards. All you have to be is 15 years old and know how to swim. The next certification class is in early June so apply soon.

Have an enjoyable summer!
