Discovery Music

This coming Sunday, the 31st, Discovery Band will open with Holy Spirit, with Laura Weant taking the lead, and then close with Son of God, with Carl Held on the lead for this one. Holy Spirit has a line that says, "Let us become more aware of Your presence." It's a song that slows us down, opens our hands, and helps us breathe in the peace and nearness of God.

Son of God is a reminder that every hope we cling to and every promise we trust finds its anchor in Jesus, Son of God.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are looking for adult chaperones to help with our upcoming Youth Lock-In on June 12th. To keep our students safe and fully supervised, volunteers must be able to stay for the entire night

 (but the youth DO eventually fall asleep). If you enjoy supporting our Youth, building relationships, and creating a fun, memorable experience, we would love for you to join us! Without chaperones, we will have to cancel this event.

Call the church office to sign up! But please, don't everyone sign up on the

same day! (Just kiddin)

Preschool News

It is so bittersweet as we wrap up the school year and say "see you later" to our little friends. We had lots of fun packed into our last days, and the 4s and Pre-K classes celebrated with their graduation ceremony. We are so proud of the children and how hard they worked this year. Everyone grew so much- academically, emotionally, and spiritually. We pray that everyone has a fun and safe summer!

Back To School Items Needed for HHS

Heritage UMC supports Heritage High School through the Lynchburg City Schools Partners in Education program. The program is designed to empower students, support the teachers, and build a brighter future for the Heritage HS Students. The church collects school supplies from July 12 until August 12 to ensure students with a need for assistance, have what they require to be successful. The following list provides items requested for students this year.

The items in bold, are the most essential.

Welcome Center on Sunday Mornings!

We are seeking volunteers to help with our Sunday morning hospitality. On Sunday mornings, snacks, coffee, and water are available in the Welcome Center before each service. Pre-packaged snacks are readily available and should be supplemented with fresh items you can easily pick up at your local grocery store. Folks who sign up need to have the Welcome Center ready at 8:45 and clean up after the worship service. More volunteers are needed to buy and put out the snacks on Sunday mornings, make the coffee, and clean up after the worship service (typically takes 15 minutes). More specific directions will be posted in the hospitality kitchen off the narthex. If you can help with hospitality this way, please click the link below.
