52 Weeks Of Goodwill: Week 21
Every Friday in 2022, we plan to share a feel-good story about the many lives impacted by our mission of providing job training and education to people with barriers to employment.
Meet Shelbie! Shelbie came to Goodwill last summer to earn her high school diploma. She knew that math would be her biggest challenge, so she started taking math classes right away. Shelbie was able to pass her reading and social studies exams through GED Testing Services remote testing option, but science proved to give her some trouble. Shelbie took extra classes while staying dedicated to the math content. She was able to complete her last tests in April and May and became one of our newest graduates! Congratulations Shelbie!

Meet A Goodwill Team Member!
Eva Prattle has been working at the Rochester Goodwill Store as a softline processor since November 2020. Eva came to work for Goodwill because she is a college student and lives in the local area, so we were a perfect fit! Eva enjoys her job because the environment is peaceful and her coworkers are incredible. As a processor, she hopes to continue reaching her daily production goals.

Eva's favorite Goodwill Core Value is COMMUNITY. She says that the store has created a community of caring and hard-working individuals that have become a second family to her.

Eva also likes to shop at Goodwill! Her favorite purchase is a film camera she restored. When she isn't working, she enjoys reading and listening to music. A fun fact about her is that she has a cat named Patch!
Meet Caridad Gonzalez Blanco! She has worked at the Cranberry Goodwill Superstore as a softline processor since it opened 5 years ago. Caridad wanted to work at Goodwill because she heard about what we do for the local community and wanted to improve her English. As a processor, she likes going through donations and enjoys working with her coworkers.

The Goodwill Core Value Caridad relates to the most is RESPONSIBILITY because she takes her job seriously and only puts high-quality items on the sales floor.

Outside of work, Caridad enjoys going on walks around her neighborhood. Caridad is originally from Santiago de Cuda, but loves living in the United States and has adapted to our culture. She says she feels lucky and blessed to call America her home.
