Greetings, Church!
I pray that you all enjoyed a meaningful Memorial Day weekend! The Great River Region had more than our share of storms over the weekend. Please remember to reach out to Rev. Ronny Nowell – our GRR Disaster Response Coordinator – if your church building or members of your congregation received damage. The Week of Compassion stands ready to help in a multitude of ways.
Many of you have already seen the notification that our General Minister and President – Rev. Terri Hord Owens – will be leading a 3-week Zoom study on The Faith We Affirm by Ronald Osborn. This study will be held for the next three consecutive Tuesday nights at 6:00 beginning tonight. Everyone is invited to attend one, two or all three sessions! This will be a fabulous opportunity for those who are new to the Disciples of Christ or for those of us who would simply benefit from a reminder of our identity as members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
From the OGMP’s office:
“The whole church is invited to join Rev. Terri Hord Owens, General Minister and President, for a churchwide study of The Faith We Affirm by Ronald Osborn starting May 27. Clarity about the basics of our faith and God's covenant of love is more important than ever. We identify as a movement for wholeness, as people of the Bible, and as an anti-racist church that affirms the limitless love of God through how we practice our faith. All are welcome to attend one or all three sessions in this three-part, interactive, churchwide study.”
Register here.
Rev. Alison Robuck

Our Brown Bag Clergy Zoom gathering will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, May 28th at 11:30! We will have the joy of being joined by Rev. Kevin McNeil, Interim Regional Minister for the Tennessee Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Kevin will be joining us to discuss our upcoming General Assembly which will be held in Memphis, TN, July 12th-15th.
Bring your open hearts and burning questions about General Assembly, as well as a joy-filled “Happy Birthday” for Rev. McNeil, as we gather by Zoom! Grab a bite to eat and come hear about the exciting opportunities for fellowship, worship and a very important message about the need for volunteers to make this summer’s Assembly a huge success! As a neighboring region to Tennessee, we are in a fabulous position to pitch in and help make the General Assembly run smoothly with a little of our own southern hospitality!
Hope to see you on the call! Check your email for the Zoom link.

It’s all about layers.
God breathing life into dust. Moses leading people into freedom. Hagar calling on God to remember His covenant. Mary saying yes. Jesus breaking bread. Young people seeing visions. Elders dreaming dreams.
Your participation in the Pentecost Offering on June 1 and 8 lays down another layer. Gifts to this Special Day Offering are divided between the regions in which they are collected and New Church Ministry.
