OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
FROM THE DESK OF MRS. TIEZZI

Dear SRS Parents,

I hope you all had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend with your family. Today marks the final week for our current eighth grade students. Congratulations to the 43 young men and women who will be the 58th graduating class from St. Rita School.  The class of 2019 is an extraordinary group of young men and women and as a class they have shown such positive leadership skills. Each and every one of them is well prepared for the challenges of high school. Their parents have sacrificed much to send our soon-to-be graduates to St. Rita’s and as parents they served this community in ways too numerous to mention. Thank you to our 8 th grade parents and best wishes to our graduates.  Everyone is invited to join us this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. for the graduation festivities.
This is the final week that you may sign up for our last fundraiser of the school year.

Our 22nd Annual Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, June 3 at the New Haven Country Club. The cost is $225 per golfer.  It is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy some golf with friends and colleagues. Thank you for your support of this event.

The school year has flown by. I can’t believe we have only 9 more days of school left to the 2018-2019 school year. School will end on Monday, June 10 with a 12:15 dismissal. School will open for the 2019-2020 school year on Monday, August 26 with a “soft opening” similar to what we have been doing for the past few years. The 2019-2020 school calendar is in the process of being finalized and will be posted on the school website when it is complete.

There are still many events planned throughout the next few days. Below is a list of upcoming events. Join us if you can to celebrate the accomplishments of our students.

School Nurse Health Reminders

Your child’s School Nurse works hard to maintain a healthy environment.
Here are some helpful reminders and protocols that are in place to help her attain this goal.

>> Call the school secretary each day your child is absent

>> Any child with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher must stay home until fever-free without the use of medication for 24 hours.

>> Any child with vomiting and/or diarrhea must stay home for 24 hours after the last event

>> Any child recently diagnosed with pink eye (conjunctivitis) or strep throat must receive 24 hours of medication prescribed by a health care provider before returning to school.

>> Please inform the school nurse if your child develops a contagious illness, has a change in overall health, or has a new injury.

>> If a child has an injury that requires the use of crutches, sling, boot or brace they must come to school with a medical note. If they are excused from gym/sports (this includes recess) for any injury or illness they must have a release signed by the same physician before they can return to said activities.

>> Physicals are required for entry into Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten and 7 th grade. The physical must be dated within a year of entrance and a copy must be handed in to the school nurse before the first day of school.

>> Please remember to bring in all medications in a pharmacy labeled container and with a medical authorization form signed by a physician and a parent. Medications, including OTC medications (Advil, Tylenol, sunscreen, Tums) can not be administered in school without the proper form.

>>Cough drops can be brought into school and left with the school nurse.

>>Please keep the school informed of any changes to your emergency contact information.

All medications must be picked up by a parent or guardian on the last day of school or they will be discarded

Your school nurse will communicate with you as needed about changes in your child’s health and of any assessments that are performed at school.

Have a safe and healthy summer and we look forward to seeing you in the fall.
Summer 2019
Summer work packets, summer reading and 2019-2020 school supply lists will be posted on our website after June 11th.

Join the NEW St. Rita School New Family Buddy Program!

Joining a new school can be a confusing and intimidating process—for both kids and parents! Help us make that process easier for new families by becoming a
New Family Buddy!

The role of the Buddy Program is to serve as a point of contact for a new family in your child’s class and be a person they can reach out to if necessary-- to answer questions, help them find information and connect the new students to a classmate. All it takes is a quick welcome email or phone call to make the new family feel at home in their new school.

There is no obligation to host the new family, although friendships are sure to be made! One fun Welcome Event will take place in August where you will get to meet your Buddy Family in person—you can take it from there!

We are looking for 2-3 families per grade. Sign up below if you'd like to welcome the newest members of the St. Rita Community.

Does Your Company Offer Volunteer Grants?
Volunteer grant programs, also known as “Dollars for Doers” programs, are corporate giving programs created to encourage volunteerism in communities where employees live and work.
Through these programs, companies provide monetary grants to organizations where employees volunteer regularly.

Please take a moment and ask if your employer participates in a Volunteer Grants Program. Your time and talent at St. Rita School could turn into dollars for our school! Questions? Feel free to contact Joanne Bruno at  jbruno.stritaschool@gmail.com .
