Greeters

Anyone who would enjoy saying hello and helping direct visitors with basic questions about our church like, “Where are the restrooms?” and “Where is the sanctuary?” are welcome to sign up to greet at the side or main entrance doors. We ask greeters to be at church 15 minutes before the service starts and remain there 5 minutes after the service begins so all who are attending worship are welcomed. You can serve monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly and at your convenience! For those who are interested, sign up here. If you prefer to sign up with Katie, you can do so in the church office during the week!

Miracle Sunday is May 17

In the United States, approximately 71% of clergy have earned a Master of Theology. Outside the U.S., fewer than 5% of clergy possess this degree. This disparity is not about calling or competence. It is about access.

The Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, Lead Courageously Miracle Sunday initiative is a denomination-wide focus on strengthening theological education for clergy in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines. The special offering received on Sunday May 17 will support a permanent endowment for 500 theological scholarships annually – in perpetuity.

Learn about the theological education endowment.

Sharing About Miracle Sunday in Your Church

In support of the Council of Bishops’ Miracle Sunday endowment initiative, Conference leadership has prepared downloadable resources to inform your church about Miracle Sunday.

Click the links below to access each week’s resource. Centered on the theme for the week, each resource features suggested Bible verses to use in the service, a :45-1:00 script to be read, printed in the bulletin, or posted online, and a 2:30 video testimony from a Central Conference pastor or theology student to download and show during the service.

Youth Family Meal

This will be our last meal of the year. Please rsvp on the link by clicking HERE. This is important to let everyone know how many people are coming. I thought for this month we would do a traditional potluck, so choose your course and let's make our last meal the best ever!

Confirmation

Please make sure your confirmand is in class (11am) this Sunday (5/3). We will be finishing our stoles that they will wear on their confirmation. This is a hard activity to make up at a different time so it is really important for them to be there. Please make sure they are scheduling their interview with a church leader. Let me know if they need any help with this.

Senior Sunday

If your student is graduating (high school. college, or a tech program) we want to recognize them on June 7th. Please fill out the info form by clicking HERE and upload a picture of them to the form or email it to me.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please reach out to Jen.

Graduation

During today's service, we will be presenting Bibles to our graduating Pre-K class and praying for their journey ahead to Kindergarten.

Thank you to everyone in the congregation for their love and support for this wonderful ministry. We pray that it continues for many years to come!

Letter "Z" will help our children become even more creative this week as they design a pretend zoo, make zucchini prints, count zebras and practice with zippers! Our snacks will have all the children with summer birthdays bringing in a tasty treat to share with their school friends. Our week will end on Friday with a FIESTA Mother's Day celebration! Singing, eating and making fun fiesta crafts will surely be a morning they will never forget!

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year is in full swing! Please help us advertise our wonderful preschool by taking a flyer to your family, friends and neighbors. Don't forget to LIKE us on Facebook to help spread the word!

MZUMC Financial Update - March

Faithful Giving

The Akron Community Foundation, who manages our permanent endowment account, recently issued a guide to year end giving that can be both beneficial to our faithful givers and to our church family as you review your giving for the year 2025. Chuck and I have identified some pertinent information from the guide that we would like to pass along which include:

1. The 9 strategies to achieve your 2025 goals

2. The new charitable tax law

3. The 5 reasons to use your IRA for charity

Please find these documents here. We thank you always for your generosity that helps the ministry we share together at Montrose Zion to flourish both today and in the years to come.
