Graduation and Promotion Ceremony

Can you believe that the end of school is in a week! We look forward to a special day next Friday, June 7th as we both honor our graduates and celebrate the end of a another wonderful year.

Here are some details of the day:

The graduation and awards ceremony for 8th graders and Middle School award winners will take place in the Batten gym. Seating will start at 8:30AM and the ceremony will start at 9:00AM and last approximately an hour. The entire student body will be present to honor our 8th graders. Due to limited seating, this event is only attended by students, Grade 8 parents, their guests, and parents of award winners.

Starting at 10:30AM, we will also hold a promotion ceremony for the rest of our students, also in the Batten gym. This ceremony will be followed by classroom celebrations in your student's homeroom. There will be more information to come about that piece and parking for the event. All are welcome to this ceremony.

Parking details were emailed home this week!

Reminder...Middle School Arts and Enrichment for next year

As we head into summer we are already looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year!
Last year we introduced the Arts & Enrichment (A&E) program in middle school, and were very pleased with its success. We received lots of positive comments and helpful feedback from students, parents, and teachers alike.

Next year we're excited to be able to expand the program: students will have A&E classes five days a week for a full hour. We'll also be adding a "Community Impact" component to the course line-up, allowing students to have more choice about how they want to be engaged in giving back to their community.

The full course offering list and signup will be sent out in July, however we wanted students to have a chance to make a few early choices before we head off on summer vacation. We invite parents and students to look over the Early Sign Up course descriptions for music and service learning courses, and encourage students to check in with Ms. Fennessy, Mr. Wyatt, Mrs. Wynn, or Ms. Young if they have questions about choosing courses.

Parents and students should complete the online Arts & Enrichment Early Sign-Up by Monday June 3. As a reminder, here is an brief introduction to the A&E program. An overview of the Arts & Enrichment program offerings and requirements can be found here . If you have any questions about this process, please email Victoria Young.
Middle School Exam Schedule

Final exams will be held from June 3-5. Please refrain from scheduling appointments during this period.

The schedule is as follows:
6/3: All Grades World Language
6/4: All Grades Math
6/5: 8th Grade Biology

To assist students in preparing for exams, additional homework will not be assigned for the remainder of the year. The only exception is work that will help students get ready for the exam. (For example, Mr. Corlett may assign a group of review problems that will be gone over the next day to help with exam.) There will not be any additional tests given during the exam preparation period.
Middle School Trip to Kings Dominion

We are excited to offer a trip to Kings Dominion for all of our Middle School students on June 6th as a thank you for their hard work this year! The cost per student is $10 and Peabody will cover the rest of the entrance fee. Students will leave from school at 9:00 (drop off to school at normal time) and return to school between 4:30/5:00. Regular Classes will not be in session that day so we are encouraging all students to come!

We are looking for chaperones to help transport the kids to and from the park. Chaperone admissions fees will be covered fully by Peabody. If you are interested in chaperoning, please complete this form.

Additionally, please complete the Permission to Roam form if you are giving permission for your child to walk the park without an adult. We will have scheduled check-in times similar to the ski trip. We will provide more detail as we get closer to the trip.

Payment and all forms are due to Peabody by June 3rd.

We are looking forward to a fun last day with the kids!
Summer Hours

Generally, someone will be in the office for the duration of the summer with the exception of the week of July 1-5 when we will be CLOSED. Our business hours in the summer are 9AM-3PM. During the summer, if you need to stop by the school, it is always a good idea to call ahead to make sure someone will be in the office. You will receive three summer newsletters, one each in June, July, and August, that will contain important information about next year.
