What's New: President Sara's Message, The Snail, Door Greeters Needed, June Fur Baby & Member of the month

What's Happening this week: Business Meeting, Installation of Officers
Message from President Sara Beacham
Greetings!

Well, hello, June! I know that technically when you read this it is still May. We are coming up on a full month of business and fun. This is our final month of meetings. I am excited, sad, and ready all at the same time. I have thoroughly enjoyed this year as your President. I hope that you decide to attend our last few meetings and events. We have a lot to do still.

For starters, June 1 is a business meeting. We will have another business meeting on June 15 to take care of any last minute business before we break for July and August. If you can’t attend in person, I strongly advise that you join us via Zoom. Check the eblast a little further down for the links. Business meetings are the heartbeat of our club, where we make decisions and learn what the other committees are doing. June 8th is my President’s Farewell meeting. I will present on all our accomplishments over the last year. Co-chairs, feel free to chime in during my report if I have left something out or want to clarify anything.

In between all our business and farewells, we get to welcome our new board at Installation. I look forward to seeing what our new venue for meetings will look like. Installation is this Wednesday, June 1st at Canyon Oaks Country Club. As you may remember, our club voted to move meeting locations for the new year. So, starting in September, our regular Wednesday meetings are at 12:00 noon for the first three Wednesdays of the month at Canyon Oaks Country Club.

So much to look forward to! See you Wednesday at 12:00 noon and in the evening at Installation.

President Sara

Wednesday Door Greeters Needed
The SI Objectives Committee are looking for greeters for our Wednesday lunches. All we need is 20 minutes of your time and a smile to greet our members and guests as they walk through the door.

WE NEED DOOR GREETERS FOR THE FINAL 2 MEETINGS OF THE YEAR!
June Fur Baby and Member of the Month - Xena & Joan Stoner

My name is Xena, warrior princess, and I am a border collie. I was born on a ranch in Klamath Falls and my mom, Joan, found me at a rodeo when I was 8 weeks old. I’ve been spoiled from the start, but I am very well-behaved when needed. I used to do agility and was good at it, but I had knee surgery 2 years ago, so my jumping days are over. Unlike most border collies, I don’t fetch frisbees and am not that interested in toys but will do anything for treats. My favorite thing is to go on walks with my mom and her friends in the park. I especially like it when people we meet in the park have treats in their pockets. I can always find them, and my cute face is hard to resist, so I get more than a few treats on my walks. I will be 11 years old in June.

My Mom, Joan, joined Soroptimist in 1997. Susan Evers-McCauley was her sponsor, and her sister Jane Alt was president a few years before. She tells me that she really enjoys the friendships she has made in Soroptimist and I do too because Mom takes me to many events. She has been a president and treasurer of our club. When not taking me for walks, she loves to read, play the piano and garden. She has a son and daughter and three grandchildren who she is looking forward to spending more time with whenever she is fully retired. You may even know her daughter. Her name is Sara.
