Lastly, TPGA said it would update members when the EPA Clean School Bus Program officially opened. It's open and gives priority to rural as well as high need school districts. Check out more details of this nationwide bus rebate program.

The Railroad Commission has proposed changes to the Chapter 9 LP Gas Safety Rules. Some are favorable; however, some need revisions. TPGA urges you to comment on these rule proposals.

Wayne Christian Secures GOP Nomination in RRC Race 
Railroad Commission Incumbent, Wayne Christian beat oil & gas attorney Sarah Stogner in the Republican Primary Runoff last week.

Thank you to everyone that voted!

The Texas Tribune reports, "Christian will face Democrat Luke Warford in the general election in November, where Christian will be the overwhelming favorite, as no Democrat has won statewide office in Texas since 1994. The winner in November will serve a six-year term, the longest term of any statewide elected position."
Propane Days Meetings Update

In addition to the Senator Cornyn meeting, NPGA has set up a Zoom meeting with Texas Congressional Representative that members can join in on.

NPGA will kick off each meeting on issues affecting the industry and followed by questions by the TX propane industry members attending.

Cornyn serves on the Senate Finance Committee and NPGA will be engaging the Senator on the extension of the alternative fuel tax credits that expired on December 31, 2021.

While the Propane Days meetings are virtual, NPGA is hosting in-person events on Capitol Hill in conjunction with their June 8-10, 2022 Board Meeting & Annual Business Meeting / Propane Days Policy Forum. For those of you attending in Washington, Texas Congressman, Dan Crenshaw will kick off the NPGA Propane Days Policy Forum on June 9, 2022.

EPA Clean School Bus Update: Program Officially Opens
Although we are lobbying for changes down the road, EPA’s Clean School Bus has officially opened and funds are available now. $250M of the 1/2 a billion for 2022 is available this rebate round for school districts that retire a 2010 or older diesel bus and replace it with a cleaner school bus powered by propane or CNG. Schools can start applying now!

School districts just need to complete a very short & easy application by no later than August 19, 2022.
Rebate Amounts
Rural district $25,000-$35,000 rebate per new propane bus
Non-rural district $15,000-$20,000 rebate per new propane bus.
School districts can apply for up to 25 buses

Rebates will be awarded based on a lottery system, but priority will be given to rural districts, low-income school districts, and high need districts. Districts will have six months from the award to submit their purchase orders to EPA.
