Background
Patients who were originally in a plan that is no longer serving Regions 1 and 2 were automatically placed by the state into an active plan. The state used algorithms to decide which plan in which to place individuals.
However, patients have the right to choose a plan that works for them and their provider. According to the Agency for Health Care Administration, patients have 120 days after first enrolling into a plan to make a switch.
After that, they are locked into their plan until a qualifying event occurs or until annual open enrollment, which for most patients in our area will be Feb 1 to Mar 31, 2020.
