Skagit Volunteer Coordinators Network June Meeting
Topic: Internships 2.0: Why They’re Great, How to Get Them
Date: Tuesday, June 4, 3:00-4:00 p.m.
Location: Burlington Library Meeting Room, 820 E Washington Ave., Burlington, WA 98233

This month we invite volunteer coordinators to a second peer learning session on internships. National data shows that most people don’t sign up to volunteer indefinitely any more, so setting up volunteer opportunities as internships not only prepares us for interns, but also for how people want to volunteer today: projects with a beginning, middle, and end. We’ll hear from colleagues in the arts, human services and other nonprofits about their experiences with interns from high schools, colleges, and work-readiness programs. In addition, guests from educational institutions and workforce programs will share about who their interns/clients are, and how nonprofits can find the help they need while also helping people reach their career goals.
