Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. NAMI's (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) Mental Health Awareness Month page links to a variety of resources to promote awareness, including images, graphics, an awareness event guide, and more.

The SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) webpage also has resources for Mental Health Awareness Month including awareness events, practitioner trainings, and more.

Additionally, the Illinois School and Campus Safety Resource Center has resources pages for both K-12 and Higher Ed mental health.
Federal School Safety Clearinghouse Announces Upcoming Webinar on K-12 School-Based Mental Health Services

The Federal School Safety Clearinghouse is hosting a webinar on the Importance of School-Based Mental Health Services in K-12 Schools, including guidance and resources for kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) schools, on May 19 at 1:00 PM CST. "Presenters will provide an overview of how communities can utilize a multi-tiered system of support in schools to address the complex mental health needs among K-12 audiences. Providing access to mental health services has been shown to reduce mental, emotional, and behavioral difficulties with students and can help foster a safe and supportive learning environment for all members of the community." Upcoming Session of Preparing for the Unimaginable: An In-Depth Look at Wellness, Trauma Recovery, and Resilience on June 8th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce a session of the class Preparing for the Unimaginable: An In-Depth Look at Wellness, Trauma Recovery, and Resilience on June 8th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm via Zoom. This class is for both K-12 schools and Institutions of Higher Education, as well as law enforcement and other school and campus safety stakeholders.
